Rocket barreles me over, knocking the wind out of me. Next thing I know, my face is covered in slobber. I can't help but to laugh and try to push away. I pat Rocket on the head and stand up, meeting all of the confused looks and guns pointed at Rocket. My happy expression fades as I realize the situation. I look at everyone and chuckle awkwardly, trying to break the silence, I speak. "Um...there must be a lot of confusion going on right now, but I can explain. This, is Rocket, the so called beast. I didn't realize that he wandered off earlier, I honestly thought he was still behind us the whole time. He's pretty much harmless! So please don't shoot him."
Everyone looks back and forth between me and Rocket, confused expressions still plastered across their faces. But when I get to Sean, he looks surprised but happy. I smile, he's the only one with his gun down. He smiles back to me, and then turns to his comrades. "Maybe we should just give it a chance? I mean, what's the worst that could come of this. Look at it, we could maybe train it to protect the people. It seems capable of learning quickly enough." He says, smiling hopefully.
The red haired one narrows his eyes. "Fine. But it better not screw anything up." He says, and then turns and keeps walking.
I look back at Sean and mouth out the words "thank you" and smile. He smiles and grabs my sleeve to pull me up to where he is so I wouldn't be left behind. We start walking with the rest of the group, continuing where we left off. Rocket follows behind me, occasionally resting his head on my shoulder as he's walking, but always recoils back to his original state. I glance over to Sean, wondering why he hasn't talked to me in a while. Sean looks content, but happy. Though I still feel like something is wrong.
