Chapter Twenty One

Harlow looked over the table in the dining room it had been exactly two weeks since her transplant surgery and she already felt a million times better, her breathing wasn't labored anymore and she was able to do things that she couldn't do before and actually breathe while doing so. Sure she still had a few restrictions but she was slowly working towards it. She hadn't left the house much and thankfully between her father, Gemma and Jax the kids had been well taken care of so to return the favor she insisted that she cook them a small dinner to thank them, she knew it wasn't much but it was what she needed, she needed her family all under one roof again. Harlow and Riley had become quite close over the last two weeks and she was thankful for a friend when she needed one so she also invited Riley to dinner tonight, Harlow was sure that after Riley left that Gemma would make some remark about Riley being an outsider but that was what Harlow needed. Riley was the one who kept her sane during her hospital stay

"Babe is everything ready?" Jax asked walking into the kitchen

"Well don't you look dapper Mr. Teller" Harlow said admiring Jax's baby blue button down shirt

"Cant have myself looking like I run a biker club now can I?" Jax smiled as he kissed Harlow

"Your teasing me that is what you are doing, you know what it does to me when you wear nice things" Harlow smiled against Jax's lips

"Few more weeks babe and everything will be in the clear, did you tell your dad to wear something nice?" Jax asked

"I did but you can already guess how that conversation went" Harlow chuckled slightly while she stirred the sauce in the pot

"I can take a wild guess" Jax said as he heard the doorbell ring

"That must be Riley" Harlow smiled

"I'll grab it, you've done enough stairs today" Jax said knowing Harlow went in and out of the house about twenty times today alone even though the doctors suggested that she take it easy

"And just when I started to like you again you have to boss me around like I am some old lady" Harlow smiled

"You are babe and I love it" Jax joked

"Funny Teller, your on the couch" Harlow laughed as Jax walked towards the door

"Hey Jax" Riley smiled as Jax opened the door

"Hey Riley thanks again for coming it means a lot" Jax said closing the door behind her

"Of course, its nice to have a friend and still be close with Miles all at the same time, does that make me sound like a creep?" Riley laughed as they walked into the kitchen

"Yes, but you have come to the right house" Jax laughed

"Harlow said you like whiskey and I know she cant drink so i brought this for you" Riley said handing Jax a paper bag

"You didn't have to but thank you" Jax smiled as he slid the whiskey into the fridge

"I know I didn't have to but I did" Riley smiled

"I CAN SMELL THAT SHIT ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE STREET!" Happy yelled as he slammed the door behind him

Riley stood there and looked at Jax and Harlow

"What have I told you about slamming my door?" Harlow asked as Happy walked into the kitchen speechless as he looked at the beautiful blonde standing before him

"Sorry" Happy whispered

Riley looked at Happy and smiled and whispered "Hi I am Riley"

"Happy" Happy said as his eyes scanned all over her body

"You are a happy person?" Riley asked

"No he really isn't he is a miserable dick" Harlow laughed clearly seeing what her father was doing

"I'm really confused, but nice to meet you" Riley said as she stuck her hand out for Happy to shake

Happy smiled as he took Riley's hand in his and brought her knuckles to his lips and kissed them lightly sending Jax and Harlow to laugh

"Riley this is my dad Happy" Harlow laughed

"This is your dad?" Riley asked looking at Harlow

"That's what they say little girl" Happy said his eyes still not able to leave Riley

Dinner went off without a hitch and Harlow was surprised that Gemma actually was nice towards Riley, after dinner was cleaned up Jax and Happy brought the kids into the bathroom to give them baths while the girls talked

"What is that girls story prez?" Happy asked

"Her boyfriend or whatever was the one that gave Harlow her heart so Harlow and her became friends" Jax chuckled knowing exactly where Happy was going with this

"So she is single?" Happy asked

"Yeah but don't you think she's a little young for you?" Jax asked

"If she is eighteen that is legal enough for me" Happy laughed

Once Jax and Happy got the kids settled in bed and Gemma left Riley was getting ready to leave

"Can i walk you to your car?" Happy offered

"That would be lovely" Riley smiled as she grabbed her coat from the chair

"Call me tomorrow girl or just stop over I'll be home all day" Harlow said as Riley hugged and Jax goodbye

"Night dad" Harlow added

Once Happy and Riley were out of the house Harlow walked down the steps and looked out of the window

"Babe what are you doing?" Jax asked walking next to her

"Watching, I wanna see what the fuck happened it was like neither of them could fuckin talk" Harlow said

"Babe its none of our business" Jax said before his eyes fell out of his head when Happy took Riley's hand and led her across the street to his house

Harlow reached over and smacked Jax "See I fuckin told you. I knew it the second they laid eyes on each other"

"Your dad needs this though its been a long time" Jax said

"I hope its just a one time thing cause I cant deal with her if he doesn't come back for more if you know what i mean" Harlow said as they walked back to the kitchen

"I think you would deal just fine, besides it was like you egged them on inviting both of them here at the same time" Jax said

"I didn't think they would be fucking on the first date! And it wasn't even the first date!" Harlow exclaimed

"Babe everything will be fine I promise don't worry" Jax laughed as they walked back to the bedroom

"I wish i could just get laid" Harlow laughed

"You have no idea babe, we can snuggle though" Jax smiled

"I wanna do more then snuggle I swear if this doctor doesn't clear me then I'm gonna be pissed" Harlow laughed as she pulled her shirt over her head, Jax looking at her large scar

"Its looking better though" Jax said

"I feel like it makes me ugly" Harlow frowned

Jax wrapped his arms around Harlow's waist "Babe you will never be ugly, your always going to be beautiful"

Harlow smiled "You always have your way with words like you are some prince charming or something"

"I'm all about the fairytale baby" Jax smiled
