for that brief moment of a smile, time felt nonexistent. and the barrier between dreams and reality broke when your gaze turned back to the books.

i sighed, looking back down at the ground i was crouching on and saw your frilly socks poking out of your converses. you were tip-toeing so badly you almost seemed like a ballerina. i wanted to help you, but i was too in shock to speak so soon—

you were climbing the shelf.

"what the— you can't do that! get down." i scolded. you merely blinked softly, looking down at me, until a cunning smile engraved your face.

you ended up using me as a step stool;

carefully grabbing a book and landing on your feet like you were made to be one; a ballerina that is.

i didn't mind.
in fact, it made the corners of my mouth tug into a barely legible smile. 

the first one in awhile.
