Chapter 53

We stayed only about thirty minutes from the hospital that Valeria was at, how nice was that? We woke up the boys, much to their utter disdain and hopped in the rental. We got to the hospital fairly quickly, this was it, and within the next day we could be adding another baby to family.

"Hola, donde podemos encontrar Valeria Perez?" Lin spoke holding Cruz in his arms. (Hello, where can we find Valeria Perez?)

"Eres tu familia?" She looked at me skeptically, I felt painfully white in this moment. (Are you family?)

"Pronto para ser, estamos adoptando el bebe." Lin smiled. (Soon, we are adopting the baby.)

"Oh si! Sigueme." She walked out from behind the desk. (Oh yes! Follow me.)

Lin motioned for us to follow and we did. Luis and Luz we're not allowed to be in the room so they took the boys. Lin and I entered the room cautiously. I smiled as soon as I saw Valeria sitting there, she looked so at peace.

"Hola Miranda's!" She smiled. Wow, she was truly a stunning girl. Her complexion was beautiful and she had big brown eyes just like Lin.

"Hi." I smiled and came to her side, "It's so nice to finally meet you."

She grinned, "I feel same."

Lin walked around and gave her a hug, "How's the little child?"

"She's giving me some pain now." Valeria laughed, "They say it bad but don't know until it hits."

I smiled and grabbed her hand, "I'll be here with you the whole time, do you have any family coming?"

She shook her head, "I was uh... how you say... they left me?"

I shook my head, "Why?"

"Because I got pregnant." She smiled uneasily, "My family not want that."

"Oh, I'm so sorry Valeria."

She shrugged, "I know they are not my people."

I hugged her, "Lin and I will be here for the entire thing. We're here for you honey. Hell, if you feel more comfortable talking in Spanish please do that. Lin's good at that."

She laughed, "No. I want you to be involved. You are very important to me."

I sat down next to her and squeezed her hand, "That's so sweet."

A contraction washed over her and she clenched her teeth, she squeezed my hand hard and apologized profusely.

"Don't worry about it Valeria! Squeeze my hand as hard as you like."

So that's how the next few hours went. We'd sit there and talk and her contractions would get worse and worse until eventually the doctor gave her the go ahead and push. All in all her labor was only about six hours long and she only pushed for about fifteen minutes before a screaming tiny little human was born.

Valeria wanted us to cut the umbilical cord so both of us did, I was crying as I was doing this. The doctor then handed the little one off to Valeria. She was crying and kissed her small child. She said something in Spanish and looked up at me with hope in her eyes, "Take your baby." She smiled slightly.

I nodded my head and took the baby girl from her hands. I let the tears stream down my face as I coddled the little girl, she was the most beautiful girl I have ever laid my eyes. I kissed her and held her close to me, my little girl.

I sat there admiring the little beauty. Lin came over and I handed her off to her ever so silent father. There were few times I had ever seen Lin speechless and this was one of them. He sat down and started speaking to her, his baby girl.
