Zelda stumbled down the steps and flopped down on a bar stool, trying to rub the sleep out of her eyes. "Mornin' An' 'Tasha..." she mumbled.
"Gutten Morgan, Tochter," a deeper than expected voice answered. (Good morning, daughter)
"Eh? Vati?" Zelda forced open her eyes to see her white-headed father at the stove. He slid some things off onto a plate and set the cooking utensils into the sink before pulling out a few things from the oven. When he set the items on the bar, the eldest daughter stretched her arms out and made grabbing motions with her hands towards the food.
"Life Substance... Come to me..." she mumbled, finally snagging a flat bread and the jar of jam. She spread the jam on the bread before selecting a sausage and rolling it up in the jammed bread and taking a bite of her creation. "Isho gud!" she praised around her breakfast.
Gilbert chuckled and got to work on cleaning up. "Danke. You eat up and get ready for school, okay?"
Zelda nodded and ate her fill before slipping upstairs to get dressed and ready. As soon as she had left her aunt took her place and flopped over onto Gilbert, almost making him fall to the floor.
"Hey! I'm not furniture!"
"But Bruder..." she whined, refusing to stand on her own feet. "Vizg!" she cried when Gilbert untangled her from him and let her fall to the floor. She let out a strand of profanities in both Russian and German as she crawled up into the standing position, and then proceeded to lecture Gilbert in the same manner. (Shriek, scream, yelp...)
Gilbert said nothing, but there was a hint of a smile on his lips.
Eventually Natasha ran out of swear words and insults to throw at her older brother and resorted to the silent treatment as she sat and ate her breakfast. She was soon joined by the rest of the family who ate right along side her before running off to get ready for either school or work in Dastan's case.
Before they all left, however, Prussia called a meeting. They all sat around the table, quiet, waiting for Prussia to speak.
"I've figured out how to get you're Muti," he finally said.
Perisa's eyes went wide. "You have?!"
He nodded, smiling at all of their happy faces. "I have. But zhat means I'm going to have to leave for a vhile. I'm placing you in Natasha's care until I get back. Behave, okay? Vhen I come back, I'll have Muti."
Their eyes danced as they attacked Gilbert with hugs. But the moment was short lasting as they had to get going. Gilbert grabbed his coat before hurrying out of Europe, over to America, across half the states, through Oregon before finally resting when he found the town he wanted in Alice's home. He wandered about the small place before finally coming to a halt a the school at the top of the hill. He shaded his eyes and spotted the highest mountain of the area before smiling and jogging towards the field behind the school and to the big tree. He smiled as he saw the shimmering barrier and carefully pushed his hand through. When he saw that his body part was on the other side, he pushed the rest of him through as well, finally coming out the other side.
Looking down at his slightly tanned hand and white hoodie sleeve he smiled. "It's been a while since I came home, hasn't it? I wonder if Mom is worried... I should probably call her. But not yet--right now I need to find Anahi."
It occurred to him that he had no idea where Anahi would be. He tried to think back, but could gain no knowledge. Finally he resorted to going back home to check in with his family and explain himself.
Along the way, however, he found something under the base of a tree. He hurried over to it to find a backpack and a jacket, but nothing else. He looked around for any sign of their owner, but found none. When he turned around, he saw the barrier back into the anime world.
