It didn’t take long for the news of me staying the night at Kyoya’s to spread. By morning break, everyone knew.
“So, Nami,” a snobbish girl taunted, tossing her perfect golden curls over her shoulder. “Did you sleep in the same room?”
I shrank back into my chair. “No… We didn’t…”
“Did you kiss?” asked another—a brunet.
I shook my head. “No! It was nothing like that!”
A redhead joined the original two and used me as an arm rest. “So then what was it?”
I winced at the pressure she was putting on my head. “He invited me over to tutor me, and so I accepted… Our studying went a little late, and I fell asleep. When I woke up, I was in his guest bedroom.”
“Lies!” the blond cried. “Tell us what really happened.”
“That’s what happened… I swear…”
The redhead leaned on me farther, causing my head and neck to hurt. “Spit it out!”
“I did!” I yelled back. “Just because I didn’t say what you wanted me to say doesn’t mean that it’s not the truth!”
The girls gasped at my sudden outburst. But I had had enough of this!
“It went like this: Yesterday I was struggling with my Trig homework, so Kyoya offered to help me! I accepted (mainly because Eri-chan would have killed me if I hadn’t) and then he insisted that I go home with him instead of Kaoru and Hikaru, for efficiency. I was going to go back home afterwards, but I ended up staying so late that I fell asleep at the table! When I woke up, I was in the guest bedroom. If you don’t agree with any of this, go ask Kyoya, or even the twins!”
The three girls shied away from me. I wasn’t sure how angry I looked, but from the look of seer terror, I was pretty scary.
“Bug me anymore, and I just might end up giving you a taste of your own medicine,” I ended.
They left me alone, after that.

Eri bounced over to me before History. “Konichiwa!” she grinned, bending over my desk and giving me her signature smile. “Have they left you alone?”
I nodded. “Hai. Thank you. I don’t think they’ll be bugging me anymore…”
She laughed. “Nope! I heard what happened.” She plopped down in her seat and let out a breath. “Aiya…” she mumbled, shading her eyes as she looked up. She sat next to the window, and during this time the sun liked to stream in. “Oh…” She turned to me. “How are things with you and the Hosts?”
I sighed. It had been a few days since the night I had spent the night at Kyoya’s. I sometimes hung around the Host club, but I was too busy sitting in the corner doing my homework, or watching Eri and Tamaki fight. Kyoya tended to ignore me, though sometimes we would chit-chat while cleaning up.
“Normal…” I lied.
She knew better. In the few short days that we had been together, we were pretty close. We knew when the other person was lying, especially if we were horrible about lying about ourselves like me. “Lier,” she called out. “Come on, out with it!”
I sighed again. “Kyoya-senpai doesn’t like giving me attention… Not that I mind, I just find it… Odd…”
She leaned back in her chair. “I’ll investigate.”
By then our teacher entered the room. Eri leaned back in her chair like a cool guy and fixed her amber gaze on her while I watched her.
What does she mean… “I’ll investigate”…? Is she going to bug Tamaki until he tattles on Kyoya? Or is she going to be a hacker? Heehee, Hacker… I shook my head. Wrong fandom! If there's even a fandom for that...
