Fear

I can't breathe.

I don't feel like I can breathe. Every inhale and exhale is cut short by my sobs. Blood is dripping into my eyes, but I don't want to wipe it away in case I cut them with the glass stuck in my fingertips.

"You have to calm down, if you don't get ahold of yourself you'll never make it out of here."

I suck in my tears and try to force myself to breathe normally. "Okay," I whisper.

Crunch.

My eyes widen. No... I start sobbing again as an image of dripping skin and rotting teeth fill my head.

Crunch.

"Kanna! You have to calm down!"

My head hurts. The ground feels like it's swaying beneath my feet. "I don't feel so good..." I whisper.

"That's okay, just keep moving forward. You have to put more distance between you and them."

I freeze.

I forgot.
There's more than one.

I bite my lip to keep a scream from erupting from my mouth. Too scared, too scared, I'm too scared...

"Kanna! Keep moving!"

I shuffle forward, wincing as more glass scrapes against my feet.

Crunch.

Crunch.

My whole body is shaking, and I can't tell if it's from blood loss or fear. Probably both...

I slip and smack into the ground face first. Sharpness scrapes against my cheeks and my eyelids. I feel blood welling inside of my mouth. I spit it out and then let out a low sob. I cough, hard, as more blood trickles down my throat.

Light reflected off the shards coating the ground. I'd been too loud. 

Everything is red again. No, no no no!  I scramble up and turn around, only to see that there are hundreds of them.

Everywhere.

Surrounding me.

"No!" I scramble up, gasping as shards imbed themselves into my knees. And then I fall again. The room is spinning, and everything looks fuzzy.

Crunch.

Crunch.

Crunch.

"They're getting closer, you have to get up! You have to run!"

The lights die.

I feel something slimy drip across my back, and I scream as I'm lifted from the ground.

The red light comes back, and I find myself face to face with hollow eyes.

"Hello, Kanna."
