Lies

I watch Lu's platinum hair rises and falls with each breath he takes in his sleep. My mouth is dropped open. "Where am I," I say, shoving him.

Lu blinks rapidly, surprised at the sudden force. "Wha... What?"

"Where the fuck am I?" I shove him again.

"Kanna, what are you talking about?"

"You were there! You were there! You killed Trixie!" I'm screaming, I'm screaming and pushing him. We both stand up and I shove him again.

"Woah, okay bandages, calm..."

"Don't tell me to fucking calm down! What happened to me? Where am I?" I shout. I reach to push him again, but he grabs my wrists to stop me. I struggle against him. "Tell me!"

"You're dead!" He shouts back, breathing heavily as he tries to stop me from fighting him. "You died!"

"You're lying!" I ignore the tears soaking my face and dripping off my nose as I keep struggling to hit him. "You're a liar!"

"You're dead, Kanna! Listen to me, you're dead! It's over!" Lu holds my wrists and gently pushes me against the wall, forcing me to stop moving.

"No! No, you're wrong!" I stop struggling and resort to shouting. "I don't believe you!"

Tears slip down Lu's face as he shakes his head.

"I don't believe you! I don't believe you! I don't believe you!" I scream it again and again, sobbing. "I... I don't... I don't believe you..." My voice starts to fall and my knees give out. Lu catches me as I start to slide down to the floor. I fall into him and grip his shirt. "I don't... I don't..."

"I'm sorry, Kanna. I did everything I could, but I was too late. I got there too late..."

I look up to see Lu crying even harder than I am.

"I did everything I could to get in that house... I broke every rule in the book." He starts shaking and he buries his face in his hands for a moment. "But you died. You're dead. We both are. I've been dead for the past three years."

I shake my head, frowning. "But... you said Vanessa put me here..."

"I lied."

I shake my head, my face twisted in confusion.

"Vanessa didn't put you here. I did."

The room spins on its head, flipping around me like a coin toss. I fall back, my head banging against the wall.

Vanessa didn't put you here. I did.

"But... I don't..." I look up at him, my eyes wide. I feel completely lost. "Why?" My voice breaks at that one word.

And I watch as Lu breaks along with me. He crumbles, crying and sobbing and shaking. "Because, Kanna," He says. "Because I love you."
