Lost

"Hey!" I shout, reaching for the space where the door used to be. "What the hell?! Let me out!" I scream.

Nothing happens.

"When Lu finds out about this, he's gonna kill you!"

Still nothing.

I groan and frustration and look around, trying to see where I am. There's nothing around me but corn. I should probably stay here... I think, sitting down on the ground.

Snap.

I turn, looking behind me. What was that?

Snap.

I stand up. "Hello?"

Snap.

I whirl around. Every time I hear the noise, it comes from a different direction.

Snap.

This time I see a dark, black hand, with long, slimy fingers wrap around the corn stalk in front of me.

Snap.

The stalk breaks in half, and suddenly I'm face to face with hollow eyes.

I dodge the hand that swipes for my arm, running around the side of the cruncher.

Snap.

Run, Kanna! Run! I push myself forward, ripping through the corn and squeezing past each stalk.

Snap.

Snap.

Snap.

My breath feels heavy, like gravity is packing air into my lungs. I can hear movement behind me. I make a sharp turn to the left. Hopefully, I can circle back around... If I lose the spot where the door was, I know I'll be in trouble.

I'll be lost forever.

But as I make another turn, I feel something grab my hair. I yank my head away and dash in the opposite direction.

Away from the door.

My hair feels wet and sticky. Damn it... My legs are starting to hurt from the running, but I have to keep going. I trip over one of the stalks.

Snap.

I pull myself back up, darting into a different direction.

Snap.

Different direction.

Snap.

Different direction.

My heart drops as I realize I have no idea where I am relative to the door now.

I'm lost.

I make another turn, pushing through some thick stalks, and then stop. I feel the plants digging into my skin, but I hold completely still and refuse to move.

Snap.

My hands start shaking. I ball them into fists and press them into my thighs.

Snap.

The sound is getting closer, closer and closer...

Snap.

I look down and see a black puddle gathering a few feet away. Don't move yet... don't move yet...

Snap.

Snap.

Snap.

And then, suddenly, the sound passes me. It's behind me now.

Snap.

I hold completely still, waiting. Nothing happens as the sound fades into the distance.

A quiet sigh of relief floods my body. I'm not dead...

I bite my lip and stare down at my feet. But what am I supposed to do now?

I have one healing tablet. That's it. If I get hurt more than once, I'm screwed, and I know from what Lu told me that it takes a few minutes to start working.

So I have to get somewhere safe where I can hide and then take the time to heal.

I have endless food, but no water. That means I have at most three days to get out of here. Three days for Lu to find me. Three days for me to find the door.

Yeah.

I'm screwed.

Toby watched as Kanna left the room. Her deep, black hair whipped behind her as the door closed. He didn't really know Kanna, but he could tell something was wrong with her. When she was awake, her hands were constantly shaking, and she would stare off into the distance as if she was seeing something that wasn't there. Toby couldn't remember much, but he knew that that was far from normal.

"Kanna...!" Lu reached out to open the door, but stopped, sighing. "Guess I should give her some space," he murmured.

And then, suddenly, the entire atmosphere of the room changed. Lu turned his head slowly. His deep green eyes pierced Toby's, and a small smirk spread across his lips. "Guess it's just you and me, newbie."

Toby watched as Lu pulled something sharp out of his jacket pocket. His eyes widened as He looked at the shard of glass in Lu's hand.

"You know, for a second there I believed you. I believed that you were just a scared little kid who didn't know anything. I'll admit, you're a good actor." Lu stepped forward, twirling the shard in his hand.

Toby gulped. "Careful... that thing'll cut you."

"Oh, this?" Lu held up the shard. "Don't worry. Nothing hurts me."

The grin that held Lu's face made a shiver crawl down Toby's spine. I have to get away from him...

"Although, I bet it'll hurt you."

What do you guys think? Is Kanna going to find a way out, or is this it for her? Is Toby really the bad guy Lu says he is? Is Lu doing the right thing?

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
