"Damn it!"

Matthew watched as Vanessa threw the chair across the room. It rammed right into the glass door, shattering it.

"Why won't she just listen?!" The short woman shoved her hair into a ponytail, picked up the chair from the pile of glass on the ground, and set it down. She plopped herself into it and started frantically pressing buttons on the control panel. "I hate this job, I hate it so goddamn much..."

"What are you doing?"

"I'm sending someone in."

Matthew's mouth dropped open. "What?"

"The only way we're getting her out of there is if someone helps her."

"But... he won't allow that..."

"I don't care about him!" Vanessa whirled in her chair, glaring at Matthew. "Our objective is to get Kanna. I'll do whatever it takes." She spun back and flipped a switch on the control board.

"Whoever you send in, they won't last a day."

Vanessa ignored him, pressing more buttons on the panel, staring at the screen.

"Vanessa, you can't do this."

She smacked a button, then sighed. "I just did."

"But..."

"You wanted this job, Matthew." Vanessa looked directly into his eyes. "This is what it takes."

Matthew looked up at the face on the screen. "You're sending him to his death."

Vanessa pursed her lips, then rubbed her face. "I know."

Author's Note:

I fixed it! Here's the chapter I was working on. I'm posting two chapters today, partially because this one is very short, and partially because I need to catch up. I'm writing over ten chapters ahead right now XD!

Anyway, thank you so much for reading! I hope you liked it! Please vote and comment :)
