After the thing with Lilly, Anna had seen that I really wasnt comfortable around Lilly that much anymore. I was glad for that. She didnt make me hang out with her. We still hung out with Danielle a lot. Lilly left Danielle for the group of eighth graders and it wasnt in her character to hang out with people like that. People that wanted to be liked by everyone, or at least everyone they considered important or 'cool'. No, Danielle wasnt like that. Danielle had seen that some people werent worth trying to please. She focused on school and her small group of friends, which is what Anna and I did.
Eventually, we had all but forgotten Lilly. We didnt talk to her, we didnt talk about her but maybe once every two weeks. Life had felt good. I found my place. I found who I knew I wanted to be.
Lilly had eventually convinced Danielle into hanging out with the group of eighth graders. She didnt take part in their conversation, just listened. She just listened to the stupid jokes, the small gossip, and how they might talk shit on people every once in a while. Shit on people like Anna and I.
Lilly was different. She started caring. Probably because she wanted to get in good with the people she would be spending the next four years of her life with or she just wanted to change. Although, I dont see how anybody would want to change into what or how she did. She became rude and started being hurtful towards Anna and I. We asked Danielle if she saw that, too. She did. She sadi Lilly would talk about Josh nonstop. It was annoying her. It was annoying us, Anna and I, because if we did talk to Lilly we'd try to start saying something, but then she would cut us off and talk about her and Josh's interaction that day. We couldnt get through one sentence without her bringing Josh into the conversation. "Haha oh well I dropped a pencil and so and so was in the walk way and bent over to pick it up but I was already there and we bumped heads."
"Oh, same thing happened to Josh and I last year." Her eyes would get wide and she would just stare at you until she realized you thought that was weird and then she would laugh it off. She thought she was hilarious because the people she hung out with would go along with anything she said and thought it was the best thing. They knew theyd have to get along with her in high school might as well start fake laughing at her jokes now.
After about the third time of leaving me and being rude to me I finally stood up for myself. Not just for me, but for Anna. Anna and I decided to stop hanging out with her during lunch. Lilly was tablewasher and had to stay behind to clean the tables for the eighth graders. Anna was one, also and had to clean the sixth grade tables. After each were done Anna told Lilly that we wouldnt hang out with her anymore. "Fine, bitch, I didnt want hang out with you guys anymore, anyway." Lilly replied.
Anna walked out of the building alone and told me what she had said. Then, Lilly walked out with Danielle. Danielle went to the group of eighth graders while Lilly went to me.
The one time I wish she had left me alone had finally come.
