Christina

"Nothing is wrong with me, Christina." Mae stubbornly states.

No, something is wrong. She's never been the same since Carson left with a girl wrapped around his arm. She never made it that day to the airport, none of us pushed her to go, but still. I wish she went, maybe it would've eased her pain. Then her book, her famous story that got her on book tours all of summer. I knew right from the start her form of a perfect love novel was the one that failed before her eyes.

If only she saw the potential in another guy, someone like Hunter. He's been so good to her, they have so much fun together, not to mention he cares for her the way Carson used to. Carson got this sparkle in his eyes when he saw Mae and she would return the look with much excitement, I see the same thing in Hunter. Mae though, she's so far away from everything, she can't even see the special look.

"Carson doing good in Europe?" She wonders.

"Um . . . seems to be. I actually haven't talked to him in awhile." I reply.

"Good. I hope he's doing good."

I half laugh, "Mae, quit being so humble."

"What am I supposed to say Christina?" She chuckles, "I hope he trips over the ball and breaks an ankle, and while at it Grace can fall down the bleachers trying to get to her hurt boyfriend on the field?"

We both end up giggling, "yeah something like that."

"Well, glad to know you're on board." She says with a happy sigh.

"I'll arrange some stuff." I wink in the drivers seat, getting her to chuckle again.

We drive into the garage, I turn the ignition off, the car grumbling down.

"For what it's worth Mae," I start saying as she gets out, "Carson and you were beyond adorable together, but right now, you have a great guy that's dying to be seen from you. And you're dying to see him too. Take that leap of faith, then just let God take everything else in his hand."
