Hunter

Mae holds my arm as we settle down on the couch. After being kept up in the hospital for a few days, they have finally released me. Now I'm just on look out care twenty four seven.

"Please, just rest. I'm serious Hunter!" Mae sternly glares at me but I show her an angelic smile.

"Why wouldn't I?!"

She rolls her eyes and giggles, "be quiet! If you weren't so injured I'd be smacking you right now."

I pretend to be hurt, "ooh! Ouch! That hurt!"

She laughs and walks to my small kitchen. I hear her rummage through the pantry, humming away to a tune I know well.

"Okay, so, I'm way too lazy right now to cook, bake, or pop popcorn so I settled for chips, candy, and strawberries." She comes back with her arms full of food.

"Why on earth strawberries?" I chuckle.

She sets the stuff down on the coffee table in front of the sofa. "Well because I like strawberries and I'm hungry for them. Deal with it."

I just laugh and she smiles sweetly towards me. She opens a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos and stuffs one in her face. I take the M&M's package and open it, taking a few and plopping them in my mouth.

Suddenly my computer begins to ring, someone wants to Skype.

I notice it's from Madison and Bailey so I have Mae click accept and we wave at the screen as Madds and Bailey appear on the other side.

"Hi!" Mae squeals when she see's her "sister". Yeah, she's told me about that.

"Hey!" Madison screeches back.

"Hey man, feeling better?" Bailey wonders, looking to me.

"Yeah, still sore, but I'm fine." I answer.

"You're being tough right now." Mae giggles and snuggles up next to me, why? Either to get us both in the screen better or because she just wants to. Either way, I'm good with it.

Madison and Bailey laughs with Mae, I give her a death stare and then begin to tickle her sides. She screams and looses her comfy spot.

She runs off the couch and tries to catch her breath. "Hunter! We're skyping our fiends! Don't ruin it!"

I can't hold my laughter, "okay, okay. I swear I won't do it again."

She hesitates before cuddling right next to me again. The screen has the two smiling in admiration towards Mae and I. Not even I need to read their minds to know what they're thinking.

Yes, Mae and I had a disagreement, but after she confessed everything at the hospital, we talked it all out and we admitted to loving each other only. Which, made me feel a ton better. I'm not going to loose the girl I love most slip away ever again, I'm holding onto her tight.

"So how's Hawaii for our married couple?" Mae switches the conversation.

"Absolutely amazing! The hotel is wonderful, the beaches gorgeous, and so far the shops are really nice." Madison beams.

"Yeah, it's been awesome." Bailey chimes in.

"But we miss y'all, a lot." Madison says, and I can tell. I can also tell Mae misses her bestie.

"Show us your view guys." I suggest, Mae agreeing with me.

They flip the screen and it reveals an astonishing high view of the beach and palm trees. Very relaxing.

"Well, we gotta go, just wanted to check in on y'all, but we'll stay in touch. Promise." Bailey confirms.

"Yup!" Madison grins.

"Bye guys, have a fun time." I say.

"Bye bye Madds! Love you!" Mae chirps.

"Bye bye MK! Love you too!" Madison blows a kiss to Mae.

"See ya." Bailey laughs and they end the call.

"Oh my gosh, I've never seen Madds as happy as she is there. I'm glad they got married, Bailey's good for her." Mae shares her opinion.

I set the laptop down, shifting my position so I'm cross legged on the couch facing Mae. She has a leg slipped underneath the one raised, eating her strawberries.

"I agree, I wonder if you'll be that happy on our honeymoon." I tease.

She rolls her eyes again, "I'm already that happy idiot."

I laugh, "ouch! Don't call me idiot! I'm still in pain!"

She softly slaps my upper, un-injured, arm, "shut up."

We both laugh at each other, just silently looking at one another.

"I love you." I admit.

Her smile couldn't have been wider even if she tried, "I love you too, Hunter."

I lean down and kiss her, tasting the sweet strawberries on her lips, but nothing could be sweeter than my Mae Carter.
