"Mae, this is no different from just hanging out at Starbucks! Chill!" I persuade her.
She paces her bedroom floor as Madison leans against the doorframe, Christina sits at her desk, and I'm on her bed. Her closet door is wide open and clothes range everywhere on the ground.
"Silence Slave!" Christina shouts and throws a balled up shirt at Mae's head.
She jumps and then we all burst into a fit of laughter. Mae collapses on her window seat, breathing heavily.
"Guys, I have no idea what to do. I don't want to be the one to ruin our friendship." She whines helplessly.
"Well, let's start out with just taking in deep breathes. Okay?" Madison soothes.
"Mae, look. Obviously there's something between you two. There's no denying it, okay? And so you can't possibly wreck it because it takes two to be able to ruin the thing y'all have." Christina explains.
She shrugs, "it only took one person to damage Carson and I."
I scoff, "Mae! Carson is a million miles away and you're looking back on that?! Forget Carson for one night and just admire the amazing guy you've got standing before. Give him a chance before you begin to think about all the bad stuff."
She smiles softly, "thanks. But I still have no idea what I'm wearing!"
Christina smirks and laughs in an devilish way, "please. You've got me so quit worrying and go take a shower slave."

A knock on the door has me chasing toward the front door. No other than Hunter stands there looking sharp in a moroon tee and jeans. Sunglasses sit atop his head and he smiles brightly.
"Hey Kaitlyn." He greets.
"Hey Hunter!" I chirp brightly.
I let him in the foyer and he stuffs his palms in his pocket. He's nervous and it's so adorably cute.
"Any rules I should know." He chuckles.
I laugh, "yeah, well just make sure you're good to her. She's been through enough pain and doesn't want some more. Don't add onto it."
"I won't. I just have a question," he sighs, "do I even stand a chance?"
"Against who exactly?" I wonder.
"Carson."
I giggle slightly, "oh man. You two. Mae has always looked at Carson with this look of admiration and love, then they split up and a lot of drama followed that, none that was light on her. But then you came along, and you've just made her whole again. She's never been happier honestly. So if I'm being honest, yes. You have an amazing chance."
"I just want to make her happy." He admits.
"You being there for her and not leaving, that's all she asks for."
Hunter smiles, "I'll never leave her."
Soon I hear boots clacking against the tile and Mae appears in dark jeans, a loose sweater, scarf, jewelry, and ankle boots.
Christina and Madison come next to me and proudly grin. This is a huge milestone for each and every one of us.
"You look - well, beautiful." Hunter breathlessly says.
Mae blushes, "thank you. And you sir are equally handsome."
They just stare at each other in silence before Madison grunts, grabbing their attention.
"Now you two go have fun, and be here before the rooster crows at least." I tease.
"Fair enough. And you mister," Christina slowly approaches Hunter, "cross the line and I swear, I'll throw you in your own grave myself."
He swallows, "yes ma'am."
"Cmon, let's go." Mae giggles, pulling on Hunter's arm.
He gives me one more look, the one that tells me that he will never hurt Mae. Especially now that Christina has threatened him.
Then they disappear on their first ever date and something tells me that there will be more to come.
