I ran after him and called his name, but immediately started coughing loudly from the smoke. Another part of the roof had collapsed and forced me to walk backwards from the sudden heat drifting my way. I blinked my eyes a few times and noticed Kyungsoo was on his knees.
I couldn't let him kill himself.
I pulled my shirt up to cover my nose and walked over some fallen wood.
When I got closer I could hear Kyungsoo murmur. He was saying 'no' again and again. "It's too hot."

I grabbed his shirt as soon as I reached him and started pulling him up. I pulled hard, but to my surprise he gave in easily and I almost fell backwards because of it.
His eyes were dull and it was like he didn't saw me.
"My lungs... I can't breath properly," he continued with murmuring.
The state he was in was a bit frightening, but I supported him by putting my arm around his waist. "Kyungsoo, please participate."

Suddenly he held onto me tight, his eyes now full of fear. "Don't let go."

I almost squealed in surprise by his sudden action, but closed my mouth just in time. His grip on my shirt was so tight his knuckles turned white. "I won't." I thought that was the best thing to tell him right now. "Let's get you out of here."

He leaned heavily on me and the red and orange light of the flames made me able to see his face in the dark. He looked terrible. Blue bags under his eyes from the lack of sleep and some black smudges on his face. I felt a pang of remorse in my chest and I knew exactly why.
I had betrayed him and my best friend to Kris. All because he said if I didn't help him he would hurt Jongdae. Kris and I knew each other for a while now and he found out about my love for him.
But here Kyungsoo was; not only trying to save Jongin, but also all of the people that weren't even really his friends. They were cursing his name now for bringing them in danger.
I did understand them, but then again, he did all he could.

I grabbed his hand to give him more support, but he cried out in pain. I quickly pulled away, scared of his reaction and noticed it was the hand he had been shot in. He still didn't go to the hospital, it must hurt really bad. "I am so sorry," I apologised. "For everything."
I took my phone out of my pocket while holding Kyungsoo with the other, trying to dial Chanyeol's number.

"What's wrong?" Were the first words I heard and they weren't Chanyeol's.

"Sehun?" I asked, surprised he had Chanyeol's phone.

"Are you both okay?" He asked back. "Are you hurt?"

"We need a lift, I don't know what's wrong with Kyungsoo, but I don't think he can walk home." I explained, letting Kyungsoo sit down on a big stone. "It's the barn down the road when you ride out of town. Do you understand? And please bring some water."

"I think I do, I'll be there as soon as I can." Sehun spoke and ended the call.

I tucked the phone away again before sitting down on the ground. My throat was dry and the tendency to cough was still there.
I turned my head to face Kyungsoo, but he was staring blankly at the burning building. His tear stained face motionless.
I hated the fact that I felt so bad for him and turned away again.

We sat there for a while in silence and I sighed in relief as a car pulled up in the driveway. Sehun quickly got out and stopped in front of us. "I'm here." He eyed Kyungsoo and frowned. "What's wrong with him?"

I shrugged, "no clue. I kept telling him Jongin wasn't there and he just wanted to mess with him, but he kept trying to get in."

"Oh," was all Sehun replied, but then seemed to remember something. "I have water." He walked back to the car and took two bottles of water out, handing one to me. I quickly unscrewed the cap and took a big swig.
Sehun handed one to Kyungsoo who took it, but didn't drink anything.

"Aren't you thirsty?" I asked while wiping my lips. "Drink something."

He turned his head and glared at me, "don't act like you care about my health."

I opened my mouth, but closed it again. The way he was looking at me made me think it was better not to start an argument right now. He wouldn't believe me anyway.
Sehun took the bottle from him and opened it before handing it back. "Drink it, hyung."

I watched how Kyungsoo took a swig from the water and then put some on his hand to splash it in his face. "Thanks."

"No problem. So are we going home now?" Sehun asked and looked at me again. "Baekhyun is already home."

"Let's to that," I agreed and stood up. We both faced Kyungsoo as he stood up, walking past us to the car to sit in the back. He pulled his jacket up high and slumped down in the seat, closing his eyes.

"I think he hates the fact that he thought he was so close to Jongin, but then it ended up being no one at all. That's why he kept going into the shed. He couldn't let go." Sehun murmured while staring at the guy in the back seat of his car.

"Thanks for the lesson," I spoke sarcastically and walked over to the vehicle to sit in the passenger seat.

Sehun pulled a face, "thanks for helping me Sehun. Oh it was a pleasure Xiumin."

I suppressed a chuckle as Sehun got in too. He turned around in his seat and smiled. I started to get curious and turned around too. Kyungsoo was resting his head against the window as soft noises spilled from his parted lips. "I think he's really tired," I remarked.

"No shit." Sehun rolled his eyes before turning around again.

I was about to do the same as Kyungsoo's phone caught my eye. It was almost falling out of his pocket from the way he was seated. I stretched out my arm to take it and as soon as I did the device started buzzing. I looked at the screen, but I didn't recognise the number. I answered the call and held the phone against my ear without saying a word.

"Kyungsoo?" A voice asked. "We maybe found out where Jongin is."
