Rhett's hands were shaking so bad that he had to close his eyes and force himself into his own mind, yelling at himself to calm down. Freaking out all the time wasn't going to help anyone, and he took a deep breath, opening his eyes again. The shaking dwindled enough, and his phone buzzed. Stevie was the first to respond.

Oh my god. I hope he's going to be okay. Please tell me he's going to be okay.

Alex responded a few minutes later.

He was WHAT?! What does that mean, is he turning into a werewolf now?!

Rhett licked his lips before he took to responding to the both of them.

No. The werewolf toxin isn't taking to his system. His body is rejecting it, and it's killing him.

Rhett swallowed a few times, gnawing on his bottom lip. He kept his head lowered and staring at his phone, because he just didn't want to interact with anybody. He just wanted this whole ordeal to be done and over with, and for Link to come out of it alive. No matter how many times he tried to brace himself for what was to come, he kept finding himself more and more unprepared. Baker seemed to be somewhat optimistic, but Rhett remembered what he had said in the office. That he hadn't seen a human survive it. His bottom lip trembled. The texts he was receiving now was outrageous. His phone was blowing up so much that he had to silence it. Baker only glanced at him briefly.

Word spread quickly and now all of the crew members were texting him, and he felt the tears burning in his eyes.

You're not being serious, are you? Link isn't dying is he??

How on earth did this happen? What was he doing to get attacked by a werewolf?

How is he not turning into one? I thought that's how it worked?

The last message was from Eddie, and apparently none of them knew how anything worked in regards to this. That's probably what put them in this predicament to begin with. They walked into the situation blind and now they're dealing with the consequences. He wanted more than ever to wrap his hands around Terra's throat and squeeze the ever loving daylights out of her. He shook his head, taking his hands and running them across his face.

"No, no, that's not who I am," he mumbled, lowering his head.

     Baker narrowed his eyes. "Rhett?"

     "No. I can't, I just can't."

     "You can't what?"

Rhett wrapped his arms around his stomach and doubled over, letting out a piteous cry. His wails filled the car, causing Christy to break down and cry too. Baker sighed, feeling like he was caught in a chain reaction that was going to cause him to break down also. He couldn't do that though, because he needed to focus on the road. He gripped the steering wheel, now feeling more determined than ever to make this work to save Link. He didn't know the guys for long, but he felt connected to them in a way that made him feel like they were a part of his very small family.

Rhett couldn't understand what he had done to deserve this. Was it that one time he walked into Walmart to buy a pack of batteries, only to realize that it was the wrong size, so he walked back in and replaced it with the size that he needed with it, being the same price and just walking out the door? He actually found himself chuckling slightly, and he wiped the tears off of his face with a sniffle.

His own thoughts were trying to comfort him with his comedic side, and he couldn't be more grateful at that moment that the universe gifted him with that. It was the reason he and Link clicked together so well. Baker was glad that Rhett wasn't crying anymore, but was confused as to how he pulled himself out of it.

Christy was still crying however, and she held Link's head tight to her chest. He had still been sleeping.

     Peacefully?

They had no idea. For all Rhett knew, he could be having another dream that was going to lead him to another premonition. Rhett needed to put the questions that were rolling around in his head at ease and get a better sense of what's about to go down with this Toxic Electric Shock Therapy.

"How much electricity do you plan on shooting through his body?"

     Christy's cries reduced to whimpers.

Baker took a deep breath. "Normally when we do this, it's on a werewolf that's already fully turned. We need between 8 to 10 amps in order to completely kill them. With a human that's just turning, or in Link's case, is rejecting it," he trailed off, huffing out of his nose as if he didn't want to admit to Rhett how many amps it would take to burn the toxin out of his system. "Between 1 to 4."

Rhett's eyes widened and he sat up straight in his seat. "But that could kill him!" Rhett knew enough about electricity and how the currents worked. Just between 50 and 150 milliamps was enough to cause a person's breathing to stop, and Baker was suggesting that they use between 1 to 4 amps. That would cause severe muscle contractions and irregular racing of the heart that would definitely kill him.

"I did warn you about that," Baker said.

Christy leaned forward in her seat narrowing her eyes. "And if he dies, I can press charges against you right?"

Rhett turned his head in his seat to shoot Christy a glare. "So the point of using that many amps is to make sure it's completely burned out of the system," he concluded, even though he knew what the possible consequences may be.

Baker only nodded his head, grateful that Rhett understood. He glanced in the rearview mirror at Christy, who was staring out the window now. He wished there was more he could say to console her, but he had nothing. Either way, even if the chances of him surviving were nil he wanted to take that chance. A chance not taken could have been a missed opportunity.

"In the event that his heart does stop beating, which is going to be very probable, we do have defibrillators and we can try to get it started again. The ventricular fibrillation from the amps will hopefully push the toxin away from his heart. I can see that it's already gotten into his lungs," and just as Baker had said that, Link had sat up suddenly and started coughing into his hand.

Rhett glanced at Link worriedly before looking back at Baker. "How much time does he have left?" He asked in a whisper, and this got Christy's attention.

Baker swallowed painfully. "Not much. I'm going as fast as I can," he responded as he kept his eyes on the road.
