"Hmmm... Vampires? Do you have a thirst for human blood?"

Link grimaced. He wanted nothing to do with blood, even his own blood. In fact, he was notorious for passing out at the sight of blood if it was bad enough.

"Didn't think so." He turned to the next page and his eyes lit up with interest. "I've never heard of this before," Rhett murmured, and Link looked at him curiously. "A Kitsune. It's a Japanese fox. They're shapeshifters like werewolves, but they don't gain this ability until after 100 years of being in fox form. Once they've achieved this, they can change back and forth from human to fox, also taking on the form of other humans," Rhett said the last bit with a dash of enthusiasm in his tone.

Link's eyebrows went skyward. "Like doppelgangers?"

"Dude, this explains how doppelgangers exist," Rhett said excitedly, and then he continued to read on. The mere fact that they had witnessed werewolves firsthand made him very excited about this. "They can either be female OR male," Rhett said as he eyed Link. "And they're known to be super intelligent and possess powers of sorts. There are two classifications of Kitsunes, one being Zenko which means good fox, and the other being Yako, also known as Nogistune, which is a dark spirit." Rhett's eyes scanned the page and he ran his fingers through his beard for the millionth time as he took all of the information in. The more he read, the more he was convinced that this could be a possibility for Link.

"There are thirteen, I repeat, thirteen different kinds of Kitsunes. Heaven, Void which is also Dark, Wind, Spirit, Fire, Earth, River, Ocean, Mountain, Forest, Thunder, Lightning, Time, and Sound. Two things really come to mind when I read this," Rhett trailed off as he made eye contact with Link again. Rhett seemed to have Link's full undivided attention. "I'm thinking either Void because of what Terra said about seeing a certain darkness in your eyes, or Sound, because of the strange screaming."

Link blinked several times. "Wait a second," he said, holding his hand up. "If I am a Kitsune, does that mean I've been a fox for over 100 years and I'm finally human now?"

Jessie sprang to her feet. "Maybe it ties with a past life, Link! Maybe you were a fox in your past life and right now you're in human form."

"The question is, can he shift into a fox?" Christy asked, and Link eyed everyone's faces. If a Kitsune could transform into a human at will after 100 years, and if that was what Link really was, why couldn't he willingly turn into a fox to verify that that's what he really was? He shrugged his shoulders.

"There's a little bit more here," Rhett continued. "Kitsunes have star orbs that are basically their life force. Take their star orbs and you basically have control of them." Rhett stopped and took a deep breath. "I have a theory. What if Ponytail somehow has your life force in his possession, and he's using it to cause you to act out in screaming fits and whatnot?"

Link made a face as if that was a pretty good theory, and he was honestly stumped. He didn't know what to say.

"I'm not sure. It could be a possibility," he finally said, and he turned his head to look at Christy.

Christy then made a face. "Maybe if this Alpha you guys call Ponytail has this star orb of yours, he can keep you from shifting into the fox."

Rhett's eyebrows shot up his forehead and he jumped up and down, causing the page of the book to flip. He leaned over the table with his palms flat against the surface.

"Yes! That's exactly what I was thinking! Link, what do you think?"

Link pursed his lips, nodding his head. "I think the possibility is very strong here. We should try to do a little more investigating into this somehow before we make any assumptions. I don't want to walk into this battle blind, and I sure as hell don't want to walk into it being wrong."

Rhett nodded his head in understanding, and Link lowered his eyes to the book. He happened to read the word Banshee in bold lettering before Rhett had slammed the book shut.

"I say we call it a night and sleep on this," Rhett said, and everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

Link couldn't peel his eyes away from the book.
