"Talk her into an adoption"

"You don't understand Jacob, I don't want her to get rid of it at all"

"What?"

I looked at the floor "I don't want her to get rid of it"

"But-you-" he cut himself off as he sat there with a confused look on his face

"I left because I was upset, but I'm not upset anymore. I wasn't prepared to hear those words, but I thought about it and I want the baby"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, that's what I want"

"Then tell her"

"She won't listen"

He looked around the room and leaned a bit closer to me so only I could hear him "what if you talk her into an adoption-"

"Were you even listening to me?"

"Let me finish my sentence. After you talk her into an adoption, the baby will still live. Then you have about eight months to change her mind about giving it up at all"

"Would that even work?"

"All you can do is try"

"Ok, I'll try"

"Remember, eight months to change her mind"

I nodded my head and made my way towards the stairs. I slowly made my way down and went into Skylar's room.

She sat against the bed frame with puffy red eyes. I decided to not say anything and I sat by her.

She kept her gaze away from me and I sighed. After a minute of quiet, I pulled her into a hug. I expected her to push me away, but she didn't. She quickly took me into her arms and we both sat there for a while.

We sat there like that for about fifteen minutes before she pulled away.

"Listen, Sky" I slightly whispered and she looked at me "can we please talk about this? Please?"

She took a breath in and slowly nodded her head

"I'm going to try and respect your decisions but that means that you are going to need to try and respect mine too"

"What do you want?"

"I want this Skylar. I know you don't think I do because of how I ran off last night, but trust me, I do. I thought about it all night" I looked at her and she looked back "Besides, it's not like we haven't talked about having kids before. It just happened a bit earlier than we planned"

She giggled slightly "Yeah, by a few years"

"I'm being serious though. I'm trying to respect what you want but we both want different things. You don't want the baby but I want it to at least have a chance. So.....maybe you could give it up for adoption, instead of an abortion"

"But Tanner-"

"Stop for a minute okay? Think about what I want as well. I'm obviously not going to get what I want but I'm willing to do something else. You have to be willing to do it too because I won't let you go through with this. And if you do this....I'm sorry, but I'll never forgive you"

A tear fell down her cheek "okay"

"You mean?-"

"I'll do the adoption but that's it"
