Tanner's POV

I sat at the island in the kitchen as Jacob cooked breakfast.

Skylar walked upstairs and came to pour herself a glass of water

"Hey babe" she didn't say anything and only waved

Before I could say anything else she went back downstairs. I looked at Jacob and he quickly looked away trying to pretend he didn't see anything.

"Why is she acting like this?"

"Like what?"

"Don't act like you haven't noticed how she's been acting. She hasn't slept in the same bed as me since the trip"

"Is it wrong for her to want to sleep in her own bed?"

"It's not just sleeping Jacob, she has barely even left her room in five days. She hasn't been acting normal at all, she's being distant with me and I don't like it"

"Maybe she just needs time to herself"

"Time from what?"

"I don't know"

"I thought she would be really excited to get home and see Phoenix but all she did was pet him quickly, hug you and Bradley, then go straight to her room. And she has barely left it. Plus, she promised to tell me everything about what happened when she talked to Westin but she has completely avoided the topic"

"That's weird"

"You don't think anything happened do you?"

"I don't know"

"You are kind of acting weird too"

"No I'm not"

"Yes you are"

"No I'm not"

"Whatever, I'll just go talk to her"

"I don't know if you should"

"What are you hiding?"

"Nothing"

"Then why shouldn't I go talk to her?"

"Never mind, go talk to her"

"I will"

I hopped off the chair and made my way downstairs to her bedroom door. I knocked quietly and I heard her tell me to come in.

I stepped into the room and I sat on her bed

"What's up?" She said awkwardly and pausing the movie

"Why are you being so distant?"

"What are you talking about?"

"You've been avoiding me ever since we got back"

"No I haven't"

"Yes you have and you promised to tell me what happened that night and you avoid the topic"

"I don't really want to talk about it"

"Why?"

"Because"

"Why weren't you home around eleven?"

"What?"

"You went to talk to him at 7:48 and I fell asleep around eleven and you weren't home by the time I fell asleep"

"Because-"

"Just tell me the truth"

"We talked for about an hour or two and after we talked, something happened-"

"You didn't cheat on me did you?"

"Let me finish talking"

"Did you cheat on me?!"

"Just let me explain"

"You fucking cheated on me?!"

"Just sit down and let me tell you what happened"

"Do I even want to know what happened?"

"You said you wanted to know so sit the fuck down and let me explain myself"

Tears burned at my eyes and threatened to fall

"After we talked, I went back to his house-"

"Why the fuck would you go to his house?!"

"Because I was on my way back to the house and I-"

"I can't believe you would do something like this to me!-"

"Shut the fuck up tanner!! I'm trying to fucking talk to you! I didn't fucking cheat on you okay?!"

"Then what the fuck did you!-"

"Stop cutting me off! Would it kill you to let me talk for two fucking seconds?! You want to know what my problem is?! I'm pregnant okay!? That's what my fucking problem is!"

"You're what?"

She sighed "I'm pregnant. That's why I've been avoiding you. I didn't know how to tell you and this was definitely not how I expected to tell you but you just wouldn't let me speak"

"Stop talking"

"What?"

"I need a minute to think"

Without a word, I left the room. It probably wasn't the smartest decision but I needed to leave, it felt like the world was crashing down in on me.
