Chapter 25: I just don't get it

Oscar P.O.V
I'm really pissed about Brandon asking Luna out and it's working my nerves. I was sitting at my table during lunch with Amy and her friends, and a couple of my friends who were also in the football team. After a little while, I saw Brandon and Luna entering the cafeteria, and they were holding hands What the fuck?!? I thought.
She just met him, and they're already holding hands. I started fixing my hands into fist and I was clenching my jaw, Amy kept giving me questioning looks but I ignored her. "Baby what's wrong?" She asked but I still didn't answer, I was too pissed to answer her right now. "Talk to me babe" she whispered while grabbing my hand, I forcefully moved my hand away from hers.
"Oscar, babe please, just talk to me" she said, "Amy, can't you understand that I want to be left alone right now?" I said. "But I want to help" she replied, "You really wanna help?" I asked and she nodded eagerly, "Then start minding your own damn business" I said while getting up and leaving the table. I walked to the bathroom and splashed some water on my face, I looked in the mirror and sighed.
I really care about Luna but I keep messing up, I don't know how to express my feelings for her and Brandon already got that covered. I got out of the bathroom finding Luna and Brandon walking in the hallway, "Shouldn't you guys be upstairs?" I asked "Sorry Mr. Monroe, but Brandon here was just going to walk me to detention" Luna replied teasing.
"Detention? What for?" I asked, "I was trying to make a basket with a paper ball but it hit the teacher by accident" she replied stifling a laugh. "Funniest thing ever" Brandon mumbled while laughing, Brandon's laughter was interrupted by a voice. "Hey guys" Amy said making me roll my eyes, "Amy what are you doing here?" I asked clearly annoyed "I was just looking for you" she said approaching us and she looked scared. I felt bad for her, I mean I guess she really liked me.
"Come here" I said and she obeyed while a smile crept unto her face. I put my hand around her waist and she blushed, "Are you feeling better now?" She asked "Yeah, I'm fine now.....babe" I replied and she smiled. I gave her a quick peck on the lips and she blushed harder, "You guys make a cute couple" Brandon said and I gave a him fake smile, I was still not 100% cool with him.
"So you guys are official now?" Luna asked, "I guess" I replied awkwardly. "Great" she mumbled while giving me a fake smile, I don't know what gotten into me. I mean Amy is a cool chick, she's pretty and she's much nicer than she was in earlier years, but I just don't feel anything for her, I don't want to hurt her or break her heart, I'm not a total jerk. I love Luna and I can't believe that she's not mines yet, I don't know why I keep messing up, I gotta talk to dad about this cause he'll help me figure it out.
Time flew by quickly and the last bell rung, everyone was already leaving. I made my way to the parking lot finding Luna and Brandon talking, "Hey man" Brandon said and gave him a fake smile in reply. "I'm gonna head home, bye man and see you at home Luna" I said and she nodded, "Wait, you guys leave together?" Brandon asked and we both nodded. "Why didn't you tell me this Oscar?" He asked smiling, "I thought you knew" I said while glancing at Luna, "Our parents are best friends so I just moved here, and we're staying at Oscar's house until our new house is ready" Luna said. "Oh I see, I guess I'm going to be visiting Oscar more often" Brandon said while smiling at her and she blushed.
"I guess I'll be going" I said awkwardly, "Aren't you going to hang out with Amy?" Luna asked. "No, she has cheerleading practice" I replied, "Don't you have any best friends man?" Brandon asked while laughing, "I don't know, I have one but I think the person is slipping away from me" I said while looking at Luna and she looked down to her feet. "Well what'd you do?" She asked, "They gave me a special bracelet but I lost it, and I didn't get a chance to say that I'm sorry and the bracelet was very special to me and so is she" I said sadly, "Wait dude, the person is a girl?" Brandon asked and I nodded. "I'll see you guys later" I said while sighing, "Oscar" Luna said and I looked at her, she sighed like she wanted to say something, "I'll see you at home" she said and I nodded.

I can't believe she did that me, I know she still cares about our friendship and us. I got in my car and drove home, I locked the car and entered the house. "People I'm home" I shouted but no answer, I walked into the living room finding my mom, my dad, uncle Alex, and aunt Abigail watching a movie, "Hey family" I said, "Hey" they all replied. I greeted them and sat down, "Dad, can I talk to you please?.....privately" I asked awkwardly, "Sure buddy, come on" he said while getting up and I followed him to the game room. "What's wrong?" He asked, "It's about...Luna" I said while sighing, "Okay? What about Luna?" He asked. "Well, I love her dad but I keep messing up, and today one of my best friends asked her out and she said yes, remember the bracelet she gave me before she left?" I asked and he nodded.
"Well I lost it, it's like I want to tell her how I feel but I think it might be too late" I said while sighing. "Do you know where you lost the bracelet?" He asked, "Dad, that was years ago, I lost it when I was redoing my room, I mean it's long gone now" I replied and we both sighed, "Okay, let me tell you something buddy, I used to be in the same situation as you when I was your age, sometimes worst, but I never let that stop me from doing what I wanted to do, it's time for a little story." He said.
