The next week went by in a blur for Natalia. She had been studying nonstop for finals and the next thing she knew, it was time for Winter Break.

Deciding to head over to Kris and Jessie's, Natalia was on her way to their apartment. Stopping to get some food at their favorite sandwich shop, she called Jessie to tell her the plan.

"Hey," Jessie smiled when she picked up the FaceTime call.

"Hey, you and Kris are him right," Natalia asked.

"Yeah, do you want to come over," Jessie asked.

"Way ahead of you," Natalia smiled, "I'm on my way already."

"Great! Do you mind picking up some-," Jessie was cut off when Natalia held up the to go bag filled with food.

"Once again, way ahead of you," Natalia winked.

"That's why you're my favorite," Jessie joked.

"Good to know that food is the way to your heart," Natalia teased, "But I'll let you go. I'm like 10 minutes away."

Parking her car in front of the apartment building, Natalia got out of the car with the bags of food in hand. She was about to open the door when the door opened, nearly taking her out.

"Oh, god. I'm so sorry. Are you okay," the voice asked.

Natalia smiled as she brushed past him, "All good. No worries."

The man kept walking, but Natalia felt like she missed something, so she turned back to face him.

Was that Anthony Rizzo? Who am I kidding, of course it was. He's Kris' best friend, Natalia thought to herself as she kept walking.

Knocking on their door, Natalia was pulled into a hug by the one and only Kris Bryant.

"I heard you passed your test. Congrats," he cheered as he let her go.

"I did! I'm so close to graduating," Natalia smiled as she set the bags down.

Jessie came into the kitchen soon after and greeted Natalia while looking through the bags filled with food.

"Wow, Jess, nice to know the food matters more than your best friend," Natalia teased as she held a hand over her heart and wiped a fake tear.

"Don't take it personally. She does it all the time," Kris laughed.

"Oh, come on you two," Jessie said with a playful roll of her eyes.

Natalia was grabbing her purse and Jessie was in the bathroom when Kris pulled her to the side.

"I need your help again," Kris whispered.

"Why are we whispering," Natalia whispered back.

Kris rolled his eyes at her and said, "Jess is here. I don't want her to hear anything."

Natalia nodded her head in understanding, "What do you need?"

"I need your help with the ring. Think you can hide it for me?"

"Yeah, I'll bring it with me on New Years," Natalia said as she followed him into the living room.

When she saw where Kris reached in to grab the small box, she began to laugh. "Seriously, KB? Under the Christmas tree?"

"What? It already has tons of boxes. No one would suspect a thing," Kris defended as he handed her the ring.

Natalia put it in her purse and walked back to the front door. "It'll be safe with me."

"I know it will. That's why I asked you and not Kylie or Adriana. Kylie would lose it and Adriana, well Adriana's no good with secrets," Kris explained.

"Truer words have never been spoken," Natalia laughed, "I'll never forget that time when Kylie lost her house key and was locked out of her house for a couple hours."

"Or that time Adriana shared your breakup news after you told her not to," Kris reminisced.

"I miss high school sometimes. Things were easier then," Natalia sighed.

"Maybe, but look at us now. We're all out there following our dreams," Kris reminded her.

"Yeah, Mr. Major Leaguer. You're a total hot shot in Chicago now. Even back home. My mom says you're in the news like all the time."

"Hey, you leaving already," Jessie asked as she walked to the front door.

"Yeah, it's getting late, and you know how I feel about driving late at night," Natalia shrugged as she fished out her car keys.

"We can walk you out," Jessie offered.

"No, it's cold. Stay inside. I'll be fine," Natalia assured as she opened the door.

"Natty," Kris sighed, "We'll walk you out."

Natalia laughed as they all walked down the hallway and into the elevator.

"Adri and Mase are flying in tomorrow. Are you coming with us to pick them up," Jessie asked.

"What time? If it's before 8 in the morning, I'm out," Natalia said.

"Uh, I think at noon," Kris said as he opened his phone to look at the text message with the time.

"Okay, I'll go, and Kylie probably will too," Natalia said as they stepped off the elevator.

Getting to her car, Natalia hugged the couple goodbye. They waved at her as she drove off and didn't leave until her car was out of sight.
