Chapter Thirteen
After getting my trophy and medal, taking a whole bunch of pictures, and receiving a lot of "Congratulations" from different people, my parents decided to treat me, my friends with their parents, and my tennis team. We went to Albert's, the famous steakhouse in our area to have dinner.
While the adults were taking our orders, we teenagers were talking about my relationship with Nash.
"So, you've kept this the whole time?" Kelly asked.
"Well yeah." I said.
"We kind of guessed you guys were dating," Emma said. "I mean the nicknames."
"My parents allowing Nash to go out on a school night," Jenny added.
"Sadie slowly drifting away," Monette said in a dramatic tone.
"I wasn’t drifting away!" I said. "In my defense, I was busy practicing for tennis!"
"I'm just kidding." Monette smiled and threw a piece of paper at my face.
"Wait, so no one knows about you guys 'til today?" Nadine asked.
"Yeah, well except for Nash's parents, my parents, Ali, and Jessica." I answered.
"Jessica? You mean Jessica Carter?” Josh asked. I was surprised he knew her.
"Yeah, she kind of needed some advice and I kind of told her my situation. It’s kind of a long story." I said.
They proceeded to ask some more question. After a while, they got tired of asking and talked about something else.
"Well, glad that's over." I said.
"Be ready on Thursday. You're gonna get a lot of snide remarks." Nash laughed.
"Well, I wouldn't mind as long as my prince is by my side." I winked.
He kissed my forehead. "Oh well, you know I'll always be by your side."
I smiled in return.
"HEY! NO PDA!" Nadine shouted and Nash and I rolled our eyes.
The food came and after eating for an hour or so, we decided to leave.
On our way out, Nash asked my dad if he could take me somewhere before calling it a night.
"No problem, Nash." Dad said.
"What?" I said. "I can't. I mean, I want to but I'm tired, but-"
Nash pulled me to his car and I had no choice. Dad already said yes and I know I would lose if I argued.
"Where are you taking me?" I said groggily.
"Somewhere," He smirked and I rolled my eyes. He started driving down this dark road. The only source of light was his car's headlight.
"Nash, where are you exactly taking me?" I asked.
"Secret,” he said and raised his finger to his mouth. “Relax and stay chill, Princess. Don't worry; I won't get you in danger." He smiled.
I nodded, but inside, I was getting nervous. I didn't know where we are and I didn't bring my phone with me.
What if something happened? What if a bear attacked us? What if there was a territory of gang members here?
I took a deep breath.
Sadie, chill. Nothing bad is gonna happen. Nash is there with you. He won't put you in danger.
A few minutes have passed and he stopped the car. He got out and opened the door for me then he proceeded to put on a blanket at the roof of his car.
"Where are we?" I asked
"Laurel Canyon," he said. "C'mere," he patted the blanket.
We both lied down and I snuggled in his arms.
"Look at the stars." He said. "It's like they're shining brighter when we're together."
"What can I say? We're perfect for each other." I stated.
"That I cannot argue," He said and kissed me.
When I woke up, I wasn't in Nash's arm anymore. I turned to my right and fell down.
"And she's awake." I heard someone said.
I slowly opened my eyes and realized I was in Nash's room.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Well you fell asleep last night. I called your dad and he said you could sleep in my house and he trusts me." He said, slightly blushing.
I smiled and went to his bathroom. I always leave a spare toothbrush in his bathroom, just in case I sleep over again. I checked the time and it was around eight in the morning.
"I'm going home then." I said after brushing my teeth.
"I'll walk you."
We came out of the room and The Crew was seating by the stairs, staring back at us.
"I bet you they did it." Nadine said.
"I bet you they did it before they got here and did it again." Emma said.
"I bet you by next month, Sadie's pregnant." Monette said.
"And we're gonna be godmothers!" Jenny high-fived Monette and looked at us.
I felt my face turn red as Nash started laughing.
"Yes girls, you're gonna be godmothers!" Nash joked and I elbowed him.
The girls stared at us with eyes wide open.
"We're kidding! We promised we'll wait 'til marriage." Nash said and the girls sighed in relief.
"Nathaniel Asher James. If I found out that our best friend is pregnant, I'll plan the wedding.” Nadine stated.
Nash and I rolled our eyes. Nadine was our planner. She always arranges everything and made sure that every single thing is perfect.
“Come on, I'm hungry. And you guys better go to school.” I said.
The girls left and Nash walked me home.
“Aren't you going to school?” I asked. I had a day off from school to rest.
“I could skip it just to be with you.” He said.
“As much as I want to, you have to go to school.”
“Nah, there's nothing much to do. I could ask Rob to tell me what I miss so, it's fine.” He smiled.
Rob Lambert was his best friend since Rob moved here from Europe. To this day, he still has this funny accent.
“Fine, whatever you say.” I said and held his hand. “What do you want from the future?”
“Would you run if I said 'you'?” He asked.
“Would you chase me if I did?” I winked, let go of his hand and started running.
I wasn't a good runner, but I tried my best to run as fast as I could. Eventually, he caught up with me.
Nash hugged me from behind and spun me around. “I have never loved someone on this earth as much as I love you. I love you so much, that I couldn't survive without you by my side. I need you to always be there, so don't ever leave.”
I kissed him. “I'll only leave you when infinity ends.”
