Chapter 70

Tris POV:

"Ewww. Close her eyes. It's freaking me out." I hear Marlene say.

Peter closes my eyes.

"Finally. She's dead."

She says something else but I can't here.

How could Peter-- Wait what? I am dead?

He starts running.

I black out.

Peter's POV:

"It won't hurt her, it will kill her, it won't hurt her, it would just kill her without any pain and to hell I was not going to tell him." Marlene said a few days ago. But I don't care. I go to Jeanine's lab and search for something. I don't know what I am looking for but I will when I find it. I see blue serums marked, 'Paralyze Serum.' I take one, dye it purple, and I trash the death serum. I run out of the lab, run to meet up with Marlene, and head straight to Tris.

"Do you have the serum?" Marlene asks me.

"Yea." I say and hold it up so she can see it.

She nods. I see Tris.

"Now!" Marlene yells.

I grab Tris and pick her bridal style.

"Peter what are you doing?!" She yells.

"Inject her already!" Marlene yells.

I inject her and I feel her go limp in my arms.

"Ewww. Close her eyes. It's freaking me out." Marlene says.

I close them.

"Finally. She's dead." She says. "I can have Four."

I start running.

"Peter! Hide the body!"

I don't answer back I just keep running.

I barge through Lynn's house.

"Lynn!"

"Peter? Is that-- OH MY GOD! WHAT DID YOU DO TO TRIS!?" Shauna yells. I forget they are sisters.

Lynn walks out, only enough to see Shauna.

"Hey what's all the hollering about?" She asks.

"See for yourself." Shauna says and points at me.

"I don't see what could--PETER WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!" Lynn yells.

Great. Now my girlfriend is mad at me.

"Shush! The serum should be worn off by name. She just fainted." I say and they look at me hopefully. "I think." They look worried again.

"Peter." I hear Tris croak.

"Tris!" We all yell and she winces.

"Peter go lay her down in my bed and Shauna go with him. I will be right back." Lynn says and we do as we are told.

"What happened to me?" Tris asks as I lay her down on the bed.

"Marlene wanted me to kill you. She gave me a purple death serum and I went to Jeanine's lab, exchanged it with a paralyze serum, and threw away the death serum." I explain.

"Thank you." She says.

"I couldn't kill one of my best friends." I say and she drifts to sleep.

Lynn kisses my cheek.

"I called the guys. They are one their way." Shauna says.

I nod my head, lean back in my chair, and fall asleep.

Tris POV:

"Tris." I hear a familiar voice call. It belongs to Tobias.

"Tris." He says, My eyes flutter open. I look at my surroundings. All my friends are here. Tobias engulfs me in a hug.

"Tobias, I don't want to keep anymore secrets from them. We need to tell them everything. Not just part of it. Please tell them. Please?" I whisper in his ear.

"Okay. I will tell them." He says and kisses forehead. "We want to tell you guys something." He shifts so we are facing our friends. I lean on his shoulders.

He tells them his story and I tell them about my fake parents and everything. When we are done, they look at us.

"You aren't looking at us like we are kicked puppies." I say.

"You are not. You have been through a lot and you guys are brave. You put up with all of that." Lynn says.

They hug us. I smile knowing I have great friends.

"Tris, I will take you home." Tobias says.

He picks me up bridal style and we walk home. I fall asleep against his chest.
