Faces

Will all of you
Continue to pass me by?
I'm sitting right here
Completely unnoticed
What went wrong?

I can't help but wonder
Where your eyes have all gone
I can't help but wonder
If your mouths are still there
I can't help but wonder
If your ears can hear me

Why, faces, why?

Dilated pupils slide past me without seeing
Like oil, liquid and swift
As if I am nothing
Society bleakly progresses.

The usual clatter of city life
Silenced
There is no sound
What happened to the barking dogs, the crying children
The whispers of another world?

Time has slowed
To a crawl,
Soon it'll cease
To move at all.

Whose decision was this?
What have they done?
Ripped everyone's faces away
Leaving us with none.

I don't understand
I can't understand
This doesn't make any sense
Separated from them
Staring through a fence

An oddity, a disgrace
"The only one with a face."
