Within the next long three days, we had made it back to Suna. Needless to say, Nanami drove the siblings inside out insane. I was surprised Gaara was even able to hold his own against Shukaku with the oblivious girl around. I was proud of them all to say the least. Nanami had defiantly done enough chit chatting, singing, and complaining to make their ears bleed.
At one point Kankuro had come to me with the question of, "How on earth are you not annoyed to death yet?" Temari and Gaara over his shoulder listening in on how I would reply. I gave them a wide eyed innocent look and responded with, "You realize I've lived with Naruto all my life right?" Temari added in with, "So that's how you've learned to be patient." I shook my head, "No, that would be old man Jiraiya's doing. Getting him away from women is like trying to get a kid out of a candy store... it's a hassle and sometimes a process." The reaction I got out of both of those responses was priceless.
Once back within Suna, I helped Nanami get settled into a small house of her own and immediately started back up on her ninja training. I had also managed to introduce her into the Suna medical staff and had her begin to learn the ways and teachings of the desert medicals by having her get on a one on one basis with the hospital, doctors, and nurses herself. She adjusted surprisingly quick, just not to the desert's heat yet, and found ways to keep her spirits up. Gaara had continued my training as I was coming along, but still having trouble with the chakra type.
The days had wore on as Gaara had soon entered into to regular ranks, being separated from his siblings and former sensei, Baki. Gaara had it rough most days as the other shinobi would be complete jackasses to him. Of course, they had started treating me the same way, considering that it was leaked that I was also a jinchuriki and Gaara's fiancé. But sense I was originally from the Leaf, as well as part of the peace treaty between the two villages, I still wasn't treated as bad as Gaara.
I had been summoned to the council early one morning during a rather harsh sandstorm. I had 'poofed' into the office and announced my arrival, my face flat and unhappy, "This better be good." It was around three in the morning and I had little to no sleep for the past few days. My patience for the elders was running thin. They had been sending me on rather stupid missions that I completed within a day's time, but being respectful, I had held my tongue.
"Trust me when I say we'd rather be asleep as well, Lady Holota," Chiyo snapped. "What's the emergency?" I didn't bother with being formal. I was too tired. "There's been a request for you to head to the Village Hidden in the Clouds to train a few medical ninja. Killer B's request," Lady Chiyo read off a piece of paper in her hands. My ears perked up at the name, "B, huh? I guess if he asked I can't refuse. I owe him."
"You know him?" Baki spoke up, a little confused. I nodded, "Of course I do." "Then you'll be ready to leave the moment this sandstorm lets up?" Lady Chiyo nagged. I rolled my eyes, "I will. However, if I may, I'd like to make a request." "What kind of request?" Lady Chiyo raised an eyebrow. "An escort request."
I had returned to the house to gather my things for when the sandstorm had let up. I wasn't too worried about being quiet, seeing as the sandstorm was raging outside. I was just putting the last few tools in my bag when a soft knock came to the door. "Come in, Gaara," I granted.
The door soon fell open as Gaara walked silently into the room, "I'm guessing you have a mission?" I hummed in response, "We both do, as soon as this storm lets up." "Both of us?" Gaara whispered to himself.
"The mission is originally for me. However, I've requested you to be my escort," I replied. "Why would you need me as your escort? I find you very capable of taking care of yourself, should you find yourself in trouble," Gaara remarked, "I have other assignments that need done here." "I'm aware, but the request has been granted. I used training as an excuse. We'll be gone for about a month," I explained further. "An excuse? Then what's your true intentions for bringing me along?" I turned to him after I had made sure I had everything I needed, "For your company, of course. But I was also thinking some training... for you."
