Chapter 11: The Vacuo Campaign

Soon, the invasion of Vacuo began, the 11th Fallschrimjäger landed a few 5 kilometres away from the shoreline, which was lightly defended by a few machine gunners and barbed wire. The destroyer Viktoria bombarded the beach defenders as the paratroopers attack the dazed and confused defenders from their behind, ultimately clearing the beaches for reinforcements and armoured landings.

Half the 10th SS and the 14th focused on capturing the large industrial land that Vacuo owned, seeing it as a vital source for war vehicle productions. And as for approaching Atlesian reinforcements from the North, let's just say that due to Vacuo's desert flatlands, a Blitzkrieg's speed is most effective in these conditions.

Ultimately, the Germans through minimum spent blood and iron eventually reached Shade Academy, Vacuo's last bastion of defence, their first offensive was highly disastrous due to the persistence of the valiant defending Huntsmen. Ironwood saw this as a recruitment tool for the Mistral-Atlesian army and gave a speech to the Vacuo people regarding the currently Grimm situation.

"These primitives only know one thing, kill. Primitives can be outsmarted and defeated. The Allies will not fall! The Allies will succeed! Mistral and Atlas will bring Vacuo aid very soon. In the meantime, hold on! Fortify your rooms, fortify your homes, fortify your streets. SHADE ACADEMY WILL NOT FALL! The Allies will drive back the Nazi charge and end their reign of terror across Remnant!"

Thus was followed by cheers of the Atlesian people and dozens more Atlesian recruits, blind followers of Ironwood and his words. Help never did come to Vacuo, the last pocket Militias were all but destroyed in the German drive through a poorly defended and divided kingdom that was filthy rich with resources, millions fled into the arms of the Nazis fearing death, becoming workers in their labour factories.

The Germans after a second failed raid, soon resorted to long-range bombardment by artillery and Stuka dive-bombers. Shade Academy was introduced to light from artillery shells and bombs, Flame-troopers wreaked havoc in settlements and tanks crushed resistant infantry charges. The continuous and ruthless bombardment eventually drove the Huntsmen defending the Academy to lose their courage, moral and surrendered to the Nazis. They were all stuffed into work camps to build machines of war. The Germans suffered 340 estimated losses in the campaign to take Vacuo. The Vacuo Council surrendered to the Germans hours after Shade fell, giving them their territory as Ironwood after, ranted about how exactly the Atlesian army plus the Vacuo militia lost against the Germans.

Shade Academy was soon coverted by the SS into a training facility for ground forces, guarded by Flak. It's motto being "Wehrmacht Ausbildung für die Volk" The Freikorps reached 1000 pending members in a few hours. The island of Vytal, which was a few miles north of Vacuo fell to the Nazis soon after, this island was the Nazis real objective, whereas Vacuo was just a buffer state for the Nazi regime. The purpose for this was to establish airfield for coming Luftwaffe raids on the Kingdom of Atlas.
