Devyn
I sit on my bed in frustration watching Nay Nay and Destiny try to find something for me to wear while Leila and I sit on the bed just talking to one another about mindless things. We're supposed to be going to Kobe's party I was told and they wanted to look extremely good for some reason. Leila and I didn't really understand the hype of it all. What made me not so pressed about it is that I didn't know if Donald was going to be there or not. He hadn't said anything about it to me, which is weird. But then again, we have never really been to a party together, nor did either of us go to them a lot like other kids.
"It's illegal to buy sex toys in Alabama and Mississippi?" Nay Nay exclaims dramatically causing me to suddenly glance at her. Leila and Destiny don't budge in movement. She's supposed to be finding me something to wear, yet she has a magazine in her hand while searching through my closet.
"What are you reading?" A worried look becomes plastered on my face.
"I don't know. Some sex magazine I found under my mom's bed." She shrugs carelessly. "I always go through her stuff when she's not home. I find a lot of stuff, like handcuffs, vibrators, dildos," she lists, "even those fake vagina things that guys use."
"What?" The remainder of us question in sync. Nay Nay is always saying something very outlandish. My mom would murder me if I did that. I wouldn't really want to anyway. The stuff I had already found of hers is too much to bear anyway. I shake myself as memories come back, fixing my eyes again. "I'm not even going to question that." I say, imagining all of the things she named.
"Anyways, remind me not to go to Alabama or Mississippi." Destiny jokes.
"Why does she have to dress up for? It's just Kobe." Leila questions with her head cocked to the side. "Yeah and Kobe likes her. He's always talking about how beautiful she is and how he wants to be her boyfriend." Destiny replies.
"And you know I have a boyfriend right?" I respond, emphasizing the right.
"Yeah, a boyfriend you won't tell us shit about." Nay Nay rolls her eyes, searching through my closet recklessly.
"Nay Nay, she doesn't have to tell you if she doesn't want to. Again like I said, she keeps things to herself, which is probably why she's happier with her life." Leila explains, trying to bring tranquility to the situation. "We should take notes on that." Destiny says nodding her head, impressed.
"But who is it?" Leila suddenly asks. I stare at her in confusion as she just stated I didn't have to inform anyone about my signicant other, yet she's asking me about it in front of everyone.
"Leila, you just said she didn't have to tell anybody about the relationship and now you asking her who the nigga is?" She leans over to slap Leila on the back of her head causing her to yelp in shock. "Your stupid ass."
"Stop hitting me all the time!" Leila screeches at her thunderously. Destiny and I jump in shock at her voice deepening in tone. "Shit is so fucking annoying." She says gaining an attitude which I rarely saw. I've seen her get mad before, but it happens every blue moon.
"And whatchu gon' do about it?" Nay Nay balls up her entire face up, lips curled up oddly. Leila stares up into her with a poker face, eyes beginning to water. I look at the movement of her throat, noticing her tiny Adam's Apple going up and down, signaling sadness. "You gon' beat my ass?" She questions again. "You gon' stand up to me like a real bitch and drag me across the floor? I don't give a fuck if you're tired of me hitting you. I don't give a fuck if any of y'all are tired of me doing the shit that I want to fucking do!" Her voice echoes through the room. "I do whatever the hell I want and you just gon' have to deal with it or do some shit about it.. So hit me." She starts to slap her face lightly. "Stop fucking hitting me." She mocks Leila's high pitched voice. I can see the tears wanting to come from Leila.
