Chapter 17

I woke up at 10am and headed straight to the bathroom and leaned over the toilet. I vomited. I was hungover. For my first time ever.

I walked into the kitchen to get an Advil for my raging headache. And there I find Abby, Sierra and Finn sitting around the circle, black dining table (that we never used) with the MacBook to the left of Finn.

"What are you guys doing?" I ask, stopping in my tracks, then I go to the cabinet to grab the Advil and a glass of water. I put the small, white pill on my tongue, and gulped it down with an extreme amount of water.

I sat up on the fourth chair, and put my elbows on the top of the table and slouch. I'm still in my pink, and silver graduation dress, which is starting to get more comfortable as time goes.

"I have something to tell you" Finn declared, he had a grin on his face, which was a good sign. In fact, Sierra and Abby had the same facial expression.

"Yea?" I ask, demanding the answer.

"Ashley, I got an amazing job offer. It is to work as a clothing designer for the men's section in H&M" he announces, he seems really happy.

"That's awesome!" I say, trying to sound enthusiastic, but I fail, only because of the throbbing pain in my head. "But we don't have an H&M"

"That's the thing about it. The job is in New York City." Finn adds.

I almost spit out the water I was drinking. New York City? The one with over eight million people? The one with skyscrapers and taxi's everywhere? He must be kidding.

"You're kidding" I retort.

"I'm not. If you agree, there is an apartment I kinda sorta called on, and got, and already payed for."

My jaw literally drops. Leaving Crescent City? The one I grew up in? I couldn't. But maybe it's a new beginning. This is a chance to change.

"Yea!! Maybe I can get signed up for school there!" I hadn't even thought about college. I never really thought about it at all. I was never one of those kids that had a plan.

"Perfect! We are leaving in the morning!"

"Wait how long have you had this planned? And why are Abby and Sierra so happy?" I had so many questions, it wasn't even funny.

"Since May. I wanted to tell you after you graduated. And Abby and Sierra are excited because they are coming as well." Finn told me.

This can't be real. It seems to perfect to be real. How could Abby and Sierra have enough money to come with us? Wait, Sierras parents. But still, this all seemed crazy.

"No way. This is too true to be real." I said, I couldn't believe this. New York City, my boyfriend works at H&M, my best friends live in the same city. This

is insane.

"And the great news, we live right across the street from Sierra and me in the upper west side!" Abby added.

I put my hands over my mouth in excitement and said "wait Finn, is your dad paying for everything?"

"Yup, how did you know?" He said, sarcastically. He smiles.

I get up, there are actual tears in my eyes, and I hug Abby. Then Sierra, then

Finn.

"OMG you're crying!" Sierra says, she has excitement in her voice.

"Yea!" I reply, I whip the tears away.

Today is the most amazing day. And knowing that in 24 hours, I will be on the plane to the city of my dreams. My mom would be so proud of me.

Later the same day, after I was showered, dressed, and Abby and Sierra were gone, I was sitting in mine and Finns room packing.

Finn looks over to me, after shoving a stack of shirts in a duffle bag. And says "you're excited, aren't you? Cause I can see you smiling over there." He smiles wide.

"Yea" I look down and laugh. I should some more pairs of jeans into a duffle bag.

Packing everything into duffle bags was hard. You have to make sure everything fits perfectly, and you aren't leaving anything behind.

When I was done, I put all the bags and backpacks together. All my stuff was crammed into them.

"Done." I stand up.

"Same." Finn replies, he zips up his last backpack.

I walk over to him, and he stands up. I give him a hug, and he hugs me back. Finn rests his chin on the top of my head. He's perfect. And I'm moving to New York City with him. How amazing is this?
