Chapter 37
Today is the day. Our stuff is packed, a car has been rented, and Finn, Abby, Danny, Allie, Cai (allies boyfriend) and I are going to Delaware river.
"Do we have everything?" I ask, looking around at all the packed bags. We all over packed big time, but at least we were going to be staying in a cabin and not the outdoors.
"If anything, we have too much" Allie admits, glancing at Cai, who was standing with his hands in his pockets. Cai was like the male version of Allie, he was very sarcastic and serious.
"We are scheduled to get there at noon, it takes two hours. We should probably get a move on" Danny speaks up. We all agree and grab our own bags. We each had about two bags, except Abby, who thought she could never pack too many clothes. She had three.
The six of us cram into the elevator, barely fitting. We are all laughing, except Finn who is too busy smiling at me.
When we reach the lobby, we scurry to the small parking lot, where the van is parked. It's a seven seat van. Two seats in front, three seats in back and in the very back, two seats that pull up. We barely fit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two hour drive seemed to go by in thirty minutes. We were jamming out to mainstream music, which we all hated, but we knew all the words to them.
When we got there, we saw the cabin. Two story, luxury looking. It had three bedrooms, and two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living area. We were set.
I grab my bags, and put them up in the biggest bedroom. Where Finn and I would be sleeping. Finn and I helped pay for a majority of the trip, so the rest of us insisted on him and I getting the biggest room.
"This is amazing" I tell Finn, gazing around the room in awe. He comes up behind me, putting his muscular hand on my back.
"It really is" he agrees, and I jump into a hug. I dig my face into his nirvana t-shirt. I can hear his heart beating. And that's the most remarkable sound.
"We should probably go downstairs" I break from the hug. I grab Finns hand, and we walk down the small, spiral staircase.
"What were you guys doing up there?" Allie asks, tilting her head back so it's off the arm of the chair.
"Talking" Finn only says the truth. He then takes my hand, and we sit down on the loveseat.
"Totally" Abby says, she doesn't believe us. "Just talking." They all burst out laughing. Finn and I laugh along.
"Now what do we do? It's one in the afternoon, it's too early for anything fun." Danny tiredly says.
"You're right." I say. "And we have no phone service."
We all sit silently. And then Cai speaks up.
"What is for dinner?" He asks, slouching on the couch, where Allie is practically on top of him.
"There's a mcdonalds not too far from here" Finn says. "Unless you don't like anything from there, and you're crazy."
None of us say anything.
"So it's settled" Finn declares. We all nod our heads, and mumble to each other.
"I'll go get that whenever" I volunteer.
"How about the ladies go to get it for us?" Danny jokes, Abby slaps his chest.
"Don't be a sexist bastard" Allie speaks up, and she's serious.
"Wow, we've for a badass over here" Danny raises his hands as if a cop told him to put his hands up.
"Danny stop" I demand, lightly.
"No keep going!" Allie looks at me, then looks at Danny.
"Fine. You can't beat me in anything. And argument or a fight." He says.
"Okay enough" Finn finally says, after watching for a little bit.
"No" Danny looks at Finn, stands up, and gives him the "eye".
"You're not afraid to fight a girl, are you?" Allie says, standing up as well. She gets up in Danny's face.
"No" Danny looks around, and we are all staring now. We tried to stop it, but we gave up.
"Cai, do something!" I tell him, annoyed.
"No! I want to see my girlfriend beat a guy to the ground! I mean, I've already seen it, but I wanna see it again!" He looks like a kid in the candy store. His eyes are wide, and he is half smiling, with his mouth open.
"Punch me." Danny tells Allie.
"I'm not afraid to." Allie says, cracking her knuckles with her other hand.
"Seriously, someone stop this!!" I say, almost screaming.
"Okay, Allie. Stop." Cai tries to stop it. But Danny sits down before Cai can even finish.
"Allie, Abby, let's go get dinner, we will get it early." I stand up, looking at Danny with wide eyes. I grab my bag, that was sitting near the front door.
I swing it open, and slam it shut after Allie and Abby are outside.
"Were you actually going to punch him?" Abby says, she seems like she's proud of Allie.
"I was considering it" Allie says, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it before getting in the car.
I get in the drivers side, Allie gets in the passengers and Abby sits in back. I pull out of the parking area as soon as possible.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When we get into town, I see the mcdonalds. It kind of stands out. I pull into the drive-thru.
"Yes, one sec" I tell the person on the drive-thru speaker lady.
"What do you guys want?" I ask, in a soft whisper.
"Just a salad" Allie says.
"Same" Abby agrees.
"I'm getting each of you a burger too, whether you like it or not." I say, laughing.
"Six double cheeseburgers, three Caesar salads, two large fries and three large doctor peppers" I order. We are going to look like fat-asses.
I pull around, and we get our food. It comes in three large bags.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When we get back to the cabin, we all carry in our stuff. When we walk through the doors, the guys all cheer. They love their mcdonalds.
We all sit on the couch and basically pig out and waited until the sun went down.
