Chapter 18:
I woke up to Finns blaring alarm at 2:30 am. It wasn't the most pleasant way to wake up, but knowing I couldn't stay in bed, I jumped up as quickly as possible. We had slept on the floor last night, not because we are completely weird, but because we had to take everything to Finns dad's pod the day before.
"Today's the day" Finn comes up behind me and hugs me, his groggy voice is seducing.
"Yep" I giggle, as he squeezes me.
He goes into the bathroom and closes the door, yawning as he enters. I take that time to change into the outfit I had left out. A black v-neck shirt, a black and white polka dot circle skirt, and kitten loafers. I pull the shirt over my head, I stepped into the skirt and lifted it to rest upon my hips. I slipped my loafers onto my feet. I was fully dressed. When Finn walked out, I went into the bathroom and looked the mirror. Of course, like every girl, pointed out my flaws for about 1.2 seconds, then splashed my face with ice cold water to wake myself up. I didn't bother to wear makeup, or even take time to do my hair. So I threw my hair in a messy bun, grab my brown fringe bag (the one I bring everywhere) and head into the front of the house, where I find Finn, he's on his phone.
"So we your dad is gonna pick up Sierra and Abby before we get to the airport right?" I ask Finn. We have to drive all the way to Medford, Oregon to get on the plane. Finns dad was going to pick us up any minute. The one who paid for the entire thing. It turns out he's a doctor, and financially well.
"Yup" Finn replies, he rubs his eyes and yawns. He seems really tired.
Then we hear a knock at the door. It must be Finns dad. I was agitated. Nervous he was going to not like me.
I walk up to the front door, breathe in, and open the door. Finns dad is tall. He has grey hair and he's wearing a suit. Finn and his father look nothing alike."You must be Ashley!" Finns dad greets me, he's got to be more than a foot taller than me. He shakes my hand. "I'm Henry"
"Hello Henry!" I say back, you can tell my smile was fake. "Come in!"
Henry walks in, and Finn looks up. He smiles and says "hey dad" in a soft voice.
"Hello son" Henry says back, looking around the place. "So are you youngsters ready?"
He did not just call us youngsters.
"Dad don't call us that." Finn demands, he puts his hand on his face as if he were embarrassed. He was.
"Okay then, well let's pack up. I'll help you guys bring everything into the car."
I grabbed all three of my duffle bags and Henry took two of them from my hands. Finn had his two with him.
When we walked outside, I saw the car. It was a beautiful, black 2014 Range Rover. I was gazing at the car, I almost stopped in my tracks. No one in Crescent City had this kind of money.
After packing everything in the car, we got into it. I said my last goodbye to the old, apartment complex. I hadn't lived there long, but a lot happened there. So many memories stored in one place. Within minutes, we were down to the main road.
When we picked up Abby, she squealed. She was excited to be riding in a Range Rover, but even more excited to go to New York City.
"Hey!" Abby shrieked, excitedly.
"Hey Abby!" I greet. Me and Finn were sitting in the very back of the car, and Abby sat in front of us, behind the drivers seat.
Sierras reaction was the same when we picked her up. Then, we were on the road. One step closer to a new life.
