Chapter 23

Betty races to the car getting in and looked down at the dash board

Betty: I'm really sorry Jughead

Jughead didn't say anything and just started the car and drove off

Betty started to tear up

Betty: Jughead I feel terrible and I really am sorry

Betty kept apologizing as she felt like she was getting in the way of Jughead being a serpent

When they got back Jughead sat down on a chair in the little kitchen nook

Betty wanted to tell him something but she knew she would just stay silent. After everything that's happened Betty felt a little stressed over the fact that a serpent threatened her and her baby and that she had to stay away from Riverdale. All of the stress was causing her to get a headache so she went upstairs to the bedroom and laid on the bed holding her head in her hands. As Jughead was looking out to see a big tree outside the window view.

Betty was curled up into the mattress closing her eyes and forcing herself to sleep as her body felt exhausted and overworked.  She secretly wished Jughead would be their with her but he was dealing with his own pain. So Betty eventually fell asleep.

A few hours later...

Betty sat up as her headache was gone deciding to go wander downstairs to find Jughead gone from the chair she last saw him in but saw a note  from Jughead that said

Betty,
Went to get some food items for us to eat
and needed to clear my head for a bit.
I'll be back soon love u -Jughead

Betty sighed contently going over to the couch sitting down with her phone seeing numerous messages from mom,polly, Veronica, and Archie.

3 unread messages from Mom

First message Betty checked - Elizabeth where r u?
Second message- if this is a friend's trip why didn't u tell me?
Third   message- how long r u gonna be gone?

Betty laid her head back on the couch and replied to her mom

Betty: I'm with some friends and it was last minute sorry but I'll be gone for only hopefully a week love u mom

Then Betty read Polly's 2 unread messages

First message -Betty where r u?
Second message-  r u ok? Did something happen?

Betty replies: I'm fine Polls I just went on a last minute trip with some friends and I'll be back in a few days

Then Betty finally group chatted Archie and Veronica

Betty: guys I'm fine and I'm with Jughead were just on a trip for a few days

Betty finished texting and set her phone down waiting for jughead to come back

An hour later...

Jughead returns home

Betty: hey Jughead

Jughead: hey Betty

Betty: I see your back

Jughead: yup and I'm sorry for earlier, I  was just bummed out but I'm okay now

Betty: I understand everything has been stressful for me and I keep getting headaches

Jughead: I haven't been the greatest help with that and I'm sorry but maybe together we can work on managing all the stress going on cause it can't be good for baby Jones

Betty nodded

Betty: yeah it's not but I can't control it Jug I mean what if I don't get my stress under control and the baby suffers because of me! What do we do then?

Betty started tearing up

Jughead: the baby is not going to suffer I promise

Betty: I just wish I could stop stressing out

Jughead: you can but you just gotta find ways to release the stress in a more peaceful way

Betty: how?

Jughead: I'm not sure but I've heard yoga is good or just deep breathing exercises

Betty: yeah I guess

Betty laid her head back onto the couch top

Jughead: or we could talk about your feelings , that helps me sometimes when I'm over whelmed

Betty: okay

Jughead: only if you want to though

Betty: no it's fine we can talk about that

Jughead: no I only want you doing it out of your comfort zone

Jughead sat down next to her

Betty: I'm fine talking about this with you in fact I'd rather it be with you and no one else

Jughead smiles

Jughead: then speak what's on your mind Bets

Betty: well lately I just feel so stressed all the time and I try not to but it never works and I'm so worried about the baby. I feel like everything I'm doing is going to hurt him or her. Like all this stress is really taking its toll on me and I don't want to be the blame for the baby's pain

Jughead: what can I do to help you feel less stressed?

Betty: well for now you can lay with me and just hold me in your arms

Jughead snuck his arms around Betty's waist and pulled her into his lap

Betty let Jughead do his magic as she embraced by his warmth calming down but still had more on her kind not sure if she should tell him

Jughead: is there anything else you wanna get off your chest?

Betty sighed

Betty: sometime I just feel like I'm going to be a terrible mother and that our baby deserves more

Betty let a few tears flow down her face

Jughead: why do you feel like that?

Jughead wipes away Betty's tears with his thumb

Betty: because I can't even take care of myself so how am I supposed to take care of a baby?

Jughead: no one's perfect but I'm here to take care of bot of you

Betty smiled turning to  face Jughead

Betty: thank you Juggie

Jughead: your welcome Bets

Betty smiled and softly kissed him as he grabbed her face and kissed back

Betty: I love you Jughead Jones

Jughead: I love you Betty Copper so much

Betty kissed his cheek and hugged him

Betty: thanks for always making me feel better

Jughead: I try my best

Betty: so when do you think we'll be able to go home?

Jughead: hopefully next week

Betty: well as long as I'm with you I don't care how long it takes
