just like that, we walked back home. i couldn't find myself to speak first throughout the walk home because i still couldn't believe the fact that we were holding hands. but i cleared my throat so i could attempt to speak.

"are we going to your home?" i asked.

"mm, i can drop you off home first," he said smiling.

"oh.. okay," i say with my voice as soft as the chilly wind.

he continued holding my hand and i was about tempted to pull it away, but i was afraid i'd make it awkward to walk next to each other considering the fact that we just watched an outdoor play and had a fun time.

i awkwardly walked next to him as i looked at the ground. it wasn't until he spoke up softly.

"am i making it awkward?" he asked.

i looked up so suddenly and shook my head, but then stopped. "maybe," i said and then grinned.

"i-i'm sorry." he slowly started to pull his hand away and instantly, my hand felt cold and empty. we walked with a few distance between us and it became awkward like i predicted.

i sighed softly and suddenly did something i'd never catch myself doing. i took his hand into mine but didn't intertwine fingers with his, leaving hoseok a bit speechless.

"my hands are a bit cold," i mumbled.

he didn't say another word, but smiled a big smile instead.

"so was this officially our first date?" hoseok asked as we approached my front door.

"hah, funny. what's a date?" i snickered.

he pouted at me slightly but then sighed. "i want to thank you for inviting me to the outdoor play. i had fun."

"i'm glad you did. and thanks for coming," i said smiling slightly.

then the awkward silence came.

"well, i should probably let you go in already. your mother might be worried," he quickly saidz

"mm, yeah..."

"goodnight haesoo."
"goodnight hoseok. will you be okay going home by yourself?"

he looked at me. "mm, i'm sure i'll be fine."

"text me when you get home. i want to know you made it home safely," i told him.

"i will."

i blushed lightly all of a sudden. "hoseok?"

he turned his head and looked at me before he stopped in his tracks. "mm?"

my throat, all of a sudden, became dry and the words wouldn't come out. so i shook my head at him instead.

"nothing, sorry... goodnight."

a look of disappointment showed in his eyes but the corners of his lips rose into a small smile instead.

"sleep well."
