~One Year Later~

Betty's POV: Stepping off of school grounds was a good feeling, but it felt like I was losing something so huge from my life. Most of my life did happen in that building. Relationships, fights, secrets. And now, they were going to be left behind in the building, for new people to take our old spots. For the Blue & Gold room to have new writers, drinking out of our coffee mugs. For our lunch table to be taken over, more gossip begging not to be heard. A new group of friends, going through the same story we all did. But better. Because my life, ever since our last day of school, has been terrible.
My life is so messy. I can't find a job while I'm doing my studies from home, I still live with my mom, my dad walked out for good, and only one of my friends talk to me still. Unless Cheryl counts. She still doesn't like to be called my friend, even though we're out of high school. A few months ago, something messed up everything. Everything. Archie cut everyone out. Veronica moved in with Archie because of the return of her dad, which means she's only worried about Archie. And I on the other hand, have every problem you could think of. No friends that want to admit they're my friends. I never go anywhere, besides Pop's to pick up food if that counts. My mom gave up on trying with me, and she lost her job. I'm forever single now, as Cheryl jokes all of the time. I just got out of a relationship we both knew wouldn't work, and it only went on for a week. Polly went away with her twins. And lastly, I'm stuck with me. Boring old me.
I threw my text book on my bed, and submitted my essay on my computer for my online school. "Betty, can you go pick up my order from Pop's?" My mom knocked on my door. "Sure. Why not?" I said. "Hurry up please." She said, and I heard her footsteps fade away. I growled to myself, and looked at myself in my new mirror. My eye makeup was smeared, leaving my eyes black. My hair was up in a sloppy ponytail, and I was wearing my old sweat pants. My life sucks.
"Ugh! Betty, the devils here!" I heard my mom yell after I'd cleaned myself up. "Not a devil!" I yelled back. "Let her in!" I added in.
A few minutes later, I heard Cheryl's designer heels tapping on the staircase. She came in quickly, and shut the door. When we left high school, Cheryl decided to start wearing an even darker shade of lipstick. So of course, it suited her outfit well. "Well?" I asked her. "What's gotten you into a crappy mood?" She asked me. "My life sucks!" I said. "Don't worry, I know." She smiled. I gave her my death stare. "Fine. What happened now?" She asked. "I'm not sure. I just feel weird, and everything is annoying me!" I said. She put her hand on her hip. "Why're you ready?" She asked me. "Pop's." I said. "Does saying that word make you angry?" She asked me. "No, but you make me angry." I shot back. She rolled her eyes, and said, "I'll give you a ride then."
Cheryl's car was way nicer than mine. Of course it was red, and it shimmered in the sun. "Whatever you do, just don't show it off please." I said while opening the door. "Too late." She smirked. She started the car, and put her foot on the petal. "Wait! Cheryl! Betty!" We heard. We both turned around, to find Veronica running toward us. I turned my head back around. "Can I please get a ride? Archie took our only car again." She said. "Whatever. Just don't get anything on my new seats." She warned. "Ok." She agreed. "Why can't you buy another car? You're rich." Said Cheryl while pulling into the road. "Oh, uh, when I left, my mom didn't give me money. So...you know the outcome." She said. Cheryl didn't reply, just tapped her long red fingernail on the wheel. "Where're you going?" She finally spoke. "Oh, just Pop's." she replied. "Oh, lucky you. That's where we're going." She said flatly. "So how've you been Betty?" Asked Veronica. "Me? I've been peachy." I said. "That's good." She tried. "I was exaggerating V." I said. "So how's Reggie?" She found. Cheryl smirked at me. I secretly rolled my eyes, and said, "If you texted me anymore, you'd know." I said. "Oh no. Did you break up already?" She asked me. "Yeah." I said while biting my nail.  "Sorry B." She said. "It's fine." I said. "Here!" Said Cheryl. We all stared at the location that we spent our teen years at. "What're we waiting for?" Asked Veronica. "Nothing." I opened my door, and got out.
