Linada accompanied Shulk and the others to the exit of the village. When they reached the small opening that separated the Machina from the rest of the world, she stopped Shulk and held out a small key-card for him. "Shulk, take this." "What is it?" Shulk asked, taking the card and examining it. Fiora came up to his side and glanced over it as well. "There's a path leading from the base of Digit 2 to the foot of the Mechonis," Linada explained. "This is the security key to the door that seals the path. We who live in the village don't have any need for it, but it will be invaluable to you." "We're in your debt, Linada," Shulk said gratefully, pocketing the key. Linada shook her head. "It is my pleasure," She said. "Shulk...Fiora...Take care on your journey." "We will." "Linada, thank you for everything," Fiora said. Linada turned to face the half-Homs half-Machina girl with a friendly smile. "Don't overdo anything, alright?" "I won't." Fiora and Shulk joined everyone else near a giant Mechon wreckage, sticking right out of the ground. It looked to be a fortress unit, like the ones they had seen back at Sword Valley. "Right," Reyn said briskly. "So where are we headed?" "To the Mechonis' foot," Shulk replied. "Linada gave us a security key that will help us to get passed a door that bars the way." "Where is this place?" Sharla asked. "At the base of Digit 2," Shulk consoled the Area Map. "It's not far, we can walk there." Along the way, they saw many different species that weren't found on Bionis, no matter where you went. It truly seemed that Mechonis was a whole new world. At least, to them. When they reached Digit 2, the sun was beginning the set. The walk itself only took about thirty minutes, but they had spent much of the day in the Hidden Village with Miqol and Linada, waiting for Fiora's treatment to finish, and Shulk to make his decisions about Egil. They started to walk across a narrow path that led to the foot of the Mechonis, and walked to a bulkhead. Shulk held out the key and it slid open, allowing them to venture closer to the Mechonis. As they walked, Shulk found himself mesmerized at the sight before him. He could see both of the titans in front of him, in their final resting places. "Bionis and Mechonis," He whispered, stopping to stare up at them. The sun that was slowly sinking behind the horizon outlined the two magnificent titans in all their glory. Mechonis was in a mid-lunge, it's sword lodged deep in to the Bionis' side. The Bionis had one hand resting at it's side, the other grabbing at the Mechonis' sword. It's right arm was coated in a blanket of white, which was most likely Valak mountain. If he squinted, Shulk could see Ose Tower, where he was found all those years ago. "It's so different," Fiora breathed. "Seeing them from this kind of perspective." They gazed up at the sight before them for several more minutes, but Melia finally shattered the silence that was only punctured by the rushing of the waves. "We cannot see it from here, but our people are still fighting up there," She said. Melia was pointing towards the Bionis, her expression unreadable. "It's difficult to believe that such huge things ever fought each other," Shulk found himself wondering the reason behind the two of them fighting. "I wonder how the Machina felt at the time." "Must've been horrible," Reyn said. "Scary too," Fiora chimed in. "Fear robs us of reason," Dunban said darkly. "Out of fear we commit terrible atrocities and call them acts of self-preservation." "Fear gives rise to more fear," Shulk continued off of Dunban's words. "A neverending circle of hatred." "Perhaps that circle can be broken?" Melia suggested. "Fear," Shulk repeated. "It must be what's driving this. What's made Egil act this way." Fiora nodded in agreement and stared up at the Mechonis towering above them. And for a split second, her eyes flashed red. * * * As they entered the Mechonis' foot, Shulk's map told them they had entered Mechonis field, and gave them an overview of the area. When it went back to showing them the map, Shulk wasn't all surprised to find that there was no mapping data. Linada must have never ventured as far as the Mechonis foot since the ancient battle, and then this technology was not available. They entered through a cooling outlet, and Shulk found himself literally at home with his surroundings. Machines were everywhere, supporting the Mechonis and spinning and humming. In front of them was a conveyer belt, moving at a rapid pace towards the incredible structures. "We're inside the Mechonis," Sharla said, obviously awestruck over the scenery. "Just how I imagined it," Reyn said. "It's all totally mechanical. It ain't gonna be easy getting up this thing." "Egil is at the top," Shulk said grimly. "Let's go then," Fiora said, smiling. She stepped onto the conveyor belt and she zipped away, carried by the quick pace it was moving with. Shulk followed her lead and everyone else soon followed. They regrouped at the end of the conveyer belt, and started off again. "This place is incredible," Dunban commented as the skirted around a Mechon. "I've never seen such a place!" "You said the same thing about Satorl Marsh," Shulk smirked at Dunban. "Satorl Marsh?" Fiora frowned. "Isn't that the place at the Bionis' hip?" "That's right," Reyn had already gotten used to Fiora being back with them that he had forgotten that she had sacrificed herself back in Colony 9. "You weren't with us. It was incredible, I'll tell you that." "I have been there as well," Melia informed them. "It was not for long, but I learned that High Entia boys were pronounced men if they survived in the marsh for three days and defeated a monster afterwards." "We had to perform that ritual," Dunban remembered. "Riki heard about marsh from Oka!" Riki remembered. "She say that marsh light up at night!" Reyn noticed Shulk's expression as he approached a lift and began tinkering with it. He nudged the blonde, changing the subject completely. "What's up, Shulk?" "It's a switch to activate a lift," Shulk said as he straightened up and turned to face everyone else. "If we can get it to work, it should take us up!" "Riki want to ride lift!" The Nopon said. "We can't," Shulk said. "There's no power going to it." "Boring!" "What do we do?" Sharla asked. "Well, if we could find the main power supply…" Shulk frowned. "Okay people," Reyn said "Let's get lookin'." "Yeah," Shulk agreed. "If we can connect the power to the switch, we should be able to use the lift." They started to look for a switch, and Sharla spotted one a little ways away. "Do you think that would be a power supply?" She asked. "Only one way to find out," Reyn shrugged and crossed a narrow pathway towards it. Fiora started the conversation that had been put on hold a few minutes ago. "So, what about Satorl Marsh lighting up at night? She asked Riki. "Oka say that ether rise from marsh at night!" Riki said. "Riki never been there, so Riki not know if Oka telling truth or not." "She's not far off from the truth," Dunban said. "Riki is correct. When day turns to night, ether rises in many different colours into the sky. It truly is a magnificent sight." "Oh, I wish I could have been there," Fiora said, frowning. "Don't be upset, Fiora," Shulk smiled and moved Reyn out of the way to press the power supply switch. He knew better than to let Reyn press any buttons. "Honestly, if you hadn't sacrificed yourself, we wouldn't be here now." "I suppose." They made their way down to the lift, and the conversation shifted towards the sights the group had seen while Fiora wasn't with them. They told her of the Bionis' Leg, (Dunban told them that they had indeed visited the place, during one of the Mechon's first assaults on Colony 9) Fiora seemed particularly interested in the High Entia Tomb, and couldn't resist asking how a place like the one they had described was all that dangerous. "Well," Melia said. They were heading away from the lift, towards a huge bulkhead that was barring their path. "Many worthy successors to the throne have lost their lives performing the ritual. The ancestral spirits most likely deemed them unworthy or unfit to rule. I was lucky to escape with my life." "What happened?" Fiora asked. "I was attacked," Melia said gravely. "By one of the inquisitors in an organization known simply as the Bionite Order. I believe she was a woman named Tyrea, someone in which Mother spoke of in high regards. She does not speak of her often though, and when I have heard her it is simply only to herself. I have caught her speaking in a rather...er...ill-mannered tone about her once." "Not only was she attacked by Tiria or whatever her name is," Reyn chimed in. "She was also attacked by a Telethia." "A Telethia?" Fiora's mouth dropped open. "You mean those monsters that are said to be as old as the Bionis itself?" "Yeah," Shulk nodded. "But...How did you know that?" "I don't know," Fiora looked confused. "I just...know a lot more now." She said no further on the subject and avoided any questions about her new knowledge. There was an uncomfortable silence that stretched on for a very long time. They were nearing the bulkhead by now, and Riki pointed at it with a tiny hand, "Riki see big door!" "Yes," Dunban agreed. "My guess is that we'll have to open it to proceed." Shulk nodded and glanced around for some sort of switch that would open the bulkhead. "Maybe there's one up there, but we'll have to get more power going to it," He said. "Honestly," Reyn folded his arms. "They can make a huge structure like this, but they don't bother to make anythin' in it work." "Don't be like that, Reyn," Shulk chided. "If you want, I can go up there and open the bulkhead." "You are not going alone," Melia said. "Agreed," Sharla stepped forwards. "I'll go with him, just in case he gets hurt." "I'm going too" Reyn said. "Just 'cos you ain't got eyes in the back of your head, man!" "Thanks Reyn," Shulk rolled his eyes. "The rest of you wait here. We'll be back soon," He added, meeting Fiora's concerned gaze. He smiled at her and they left to find the power switch, Leaving Melia Riki, Fiora, and Dunban by the bulkhead door. Shulk, Reyn, and Sharla skirted around a few Mechon that stood in their path and Sharla stood by a switch that would open the way to the top. Shulk and Reyn headed to the power supply. When they found it (it happened to be right below where Sharla was) Shulk allowed Reyn to press the button, and was relieved when Sharla did her job and the bulkhead opened with a groan. They rejoined everyone else near the bulkhead and rode another conveyer belt, reaching the outside. "Look at that view!" Sharla exclaimed. "You can see all of Bionis from here!" "Yeah," Shulk agreed, smiling. "I bet I can see Colony 9 or Colony 6 from here." "Found it!" Reyn was pointing to a fortress-like structure near the Bionis' hip. "That's Colony 6, right?" "Yep," Sharla smiled. "I hope the reconstruction process is going well." "I wouldn't be surprised if they're halfway or almost done," Said Dunban. "Otharon and Juju are fast workers, after all." They continued on their way, going farther and farther. Reyn's face paled as he glanced over the edge at one point. "Whoa!" He grimaced. "Don't look down! Anyone know where we are? Other than high up?" "Maybe somewhere around the thigh?" Fiora guessed. "What?" Reyn groaned. "The thigh? You mean we ain't even halfway there yet?" "Stop moaning about it," Shulk said, pointing to a nearby fan like structure. "We can make camp over there." He walked into a small indent in the wall, where they would be hidden from any attackers. "Let's rest there for awhile." When everyone got to the intent, the all collapsed and spread out around it. It was roomier up close and they rested their weapons and began to set up camp for the night. Fiora put her Mechonis sword down on the ground next to her and Shulk placed the Monado on top of them with a smile. Then he went to go help Reyn, who was having problems with a Machina driver they had received from an enemy. Melia and Riki went into a corner to discuss something that seemed very important to them, and Sharla began maintenance on Gadolt's rifle. Dunban glanced over at Fiora, whose face was pale and had her arms wrapped around her knees. He sat down next to his sister and offered her some water. "Fiora, are you sure you're feeling okay?" He asked as Fiora took the water and downed it in one gulp. "I feel a bit like…" She frowned, trying to find the words. "I haven't got used to this body yet. But please, whatever you do, don't tell Shulk about it." She released a heavy sigh and leaned forwards slightly. "I'm sorry, Dunban." "Don't worry about it," Dunban told her. "Back when my arm was injured, it was you who took care of me." "I'd almost forgotten," Fiora said, remembering how she had never allowed Dunban to leave his bed, unless Dickson or someone in the colony needed him really badly. "It seems to long ago now." Nearby, Sharla grimaced as she attempted to pull a part off of her rifle. It was stuck tight, just like she had thought. Reyn, noticing her struggle, came up to her and took Gadolt's rifle and pulled off the part she was trying to take off. He handed it back to her and Sharla smiled. "Thanks, Reyn." "Doing a spot of maintenance?" Reyn asked. "Yep," Sharla nodded. "The sighting's been a bit off lately." Shulk glanced over at her, where he was making sure the blade on Reyn's driver came out properly. He then tested the shield to make sure that was working properly as well. It turned out that his driver wasn't functioning due to a Mechon part stuck in it's components. "You know," He said. "Miqol let us have some new parts. I could make you a new rifle if you want." "Thanks," Sharla shook her head. "But I want to keep using this one for now." She picked up the part of the rifle she was going to fix, and Reyn rolled his eyes. "Shulk, get a clue man!" He told his best friend. "It's more than just a weapon to her. She can't just throw it away and get a new one." "Yeah," Shulk agreed with a smile. He picked up Reyn's driver and staggered at it's weight. Reyn rushed over and took it from him to avoid Shulk getting crushed. "I suppose so." Reyn sat down with his new driver in his lap and grinned. "If she let anything happen to it, I bet she'd get a whack from old Otharon!" He said jokingly. Sharla watched them, and reminded herself how much Reyn reminded her of Gadolt. She remembered one of the last days she had spent with her fiancee, back in the mining base in the ether mine. * * * Gadolt sat in a chair, his lip curling as he ran his hands over his malfunctioning gun. Sharla sat on the bed watching him, her hands in her lap. "Doesn't my man ever rest?" She asked teasingly. Gadolt glanced up at her and his expression softened slightly. "Not a chance," He said. "The lives of everyone in the colony rely on the Defense Force. Our readiness and our will to keep on fighting." Sharla nodded and looked down at her feet, sighing. "We never know when the Mechon will strike next," She said sadly. "No," Gadolt agreed. "But I won't let anyone else die!" However, it didn't happen. The following day, the Mechon lashed out against the colony's fortresses. They had lost the battle and failed to save nearly a hundred men from either getting eaten or killed by the ether attacks hurtled at them. Out of anger, Gadolt had left the mine and Sharla had found him shooting at a pile of Mechon debris angrily. Sharla's hands curled at her chest as she watched Gadolt unleash his rage upon the Mechon remains, his whole body trembling with fury. "I…" He said over the report of his rifle. "If only I had more power!" "Stop it!" Sharla pleaded. "Gadolt, it's not your fault!" "We lost thirty men in Fortress Three alone!" Gadolt pointed out, his voice level slowly rising with each word. "Listen to me!" Sharla tried to reason with him. "Nobody knew that so many Mechon would come! More people would have died if it wasn't for you!" "It's not about reducing casualties!" Gadolt pulled the empty cartridge from his ether rifle and cast it aside and pulling a fresh one from his pocket. "We lost thirty men and we've lost the fortress. Those men died for nothing!" "Would their deaths have meaning if we'd won?" Sharla's question shocked Gadolt into silence. He suddenly tightened his grip on his rifle and jammed the new cartridge into his gun forcefully. "Yes," He said, his voice full of venom. Sharla's eyes widened in shock. "At least they would have died for something!" He took aim at the Mechon's remains again. "This is the end now," He said. "It's either the Mechon or us." He fired again and again at the scraps of metal, the report of his rifle so loud Sharla had to cover her ears. When Gadolt finally stopped attacking, the scrap pile was nothing more than a few rusty pieces of thin metal poles sticking from the ground. "I don't care if I'm the last man standing," Gadolt shouted, almost as if he was hoping the Mechon would hear. "I'll take them down!" * * * Sharla was jerked out of her memories as Fiora fell over on to the ground with a thump. She was fast asleep and looked completely drained of all her energy. Sharla stared down at Gadolt's rifle, before nudging Reyn. "Hey, Reyn," She said. "What is it?" He asked. "Do want to beat the Mechon?" "Of course!" Reyn was shocked at her words. "What are you asking that for?" "At any cost?" Sharla continued. "Even if it means giving your own life?" "Giving my own life?" Reyn snorted. "Now way. I can't do anything if I'm dead." He grinned in a cheeky sort of way and pulled his driver off of his lap. "I'm going to take down the Mechon and survive. And there's no way I'm going to lose Shulk, Fiora, or you along the way. We're all gonna win this and get out alive!" "If only we all thought like you," Sharla sighed. "What do ya mean?!" "It's charming," The medic smiled at Reyn's defensive tone. "What?!" Reyn's mouth dropped open and his cheeks flushed a bright red. Sharla laughed. "I'm only teasing," She told him, and finished her repairs on Gadolt's rifle. She placed it beside her and lay down on the ground, drifting off to sleep. When everyone next woke up, the sun was just rising. Shulk got up, stretching and picked up the Monado where he had left it the night before; right on top of Fiora's blades. He stifled a yawn and leaned against the wall and rested his head against it. He was dimly aware of Melia getting up as well and beginning to clean up her things. About an hour later, both Reyn and Riki had woken up, due to the bright sunlight in their eyes. After complaining about it for nearly the entire time the group was preparing to leave, they finally shut up when Fiora threatened them with a lack of breakfast. Finally, after a hastily made morning meal, they were ready to scale the rest of Mechonis Field. Shulk checked the mapping data and found they had explored three out of five floors in the entire place. "We still have two more floors to go," He said. "Hopefully we're almost to the Mechonis capital." "We should get moving," Dunban nodded. "We don't have time to hang around here." "Reyn, did you rest well?" Sharla asked, and Shulk couldn't help but notice that the two's bond had grown stronger seemingly overnight. "Yeah!" Reyn pumped his fist. "I feel great! Ready to bash some Mechon!" "It looks like we're about to re-enter the Mechonis, "Dunban informed them. "Brace yourselves." "Got it!" Shulk nodded. He got up and handed Fiora's Mechonis swords to her. She took them with a smile and they started to ascend the Mechonis again. They had barely walked ten paces when the hairs of Dunban's neck began to rise, almost as if they were about to be attacked. He spun around and thought he saw something darting behind the Mechonis' arm. "Dundun?" Riki waddled up to him. "You okay?" "Oh, it's nothing," Dunban said quickly. "Just my imagination." And he followed the others. Upon re-entering the Mechonis, there was a third conveyer belt that took them to a large closed door. Shulk reasoned that they had to find more power supplies to open it. Reyn wasn't very happy about it but reluctantly agreed to go with Dunban, Fiora, and Shulk to find one power supply. Riki, Melia and Sharla went together, both of them seeming the best to keep Riki in line. "What is with all this power that doesn't go to anything?" Reyn complained as they walked. "Honestly, why on Bionis would they-" "Reyn," Dunban said sharply, rolling his eyes. "Stop it. It doesn't matter." "It does to me." "I think it's neat," Fiora said. "Getting to see all these moving parts and different Mechon species." "You think Mechon have species?" Reyn gaped at her. "Of course," Fiora shrugged. "That would explain all the different kinds we've fought so far." Reyn continued to stare open-mouthed at her until Shulk pointed out the power switch they needed to activate. Dunban went over to it and pressed a button. A green light came on at a huge platform a couple hundred yards away. They saw another light flicker on, showing that Melia, Riki, and Sharla had done their job. Riki came bounding towards them, his face lit up with excitement a few moments later, with Melia and Sharla chasing after him. "What's all this rush about?" Dunban asked him. "Riki want to press button that allow Riki and friends to go further!" Riki explained. "Riki want to get there before meanie mean mean Reyn press button before Riki!" "Oi!" Reyn folded his arms. "I wasn't even gonna touch it! Honestly, furball, d'you hate me or something?" "Riki no hate anybody! Reyn just mean to Riki." "I am not!" Riki ignored him and flew down the ramp towards his destination, giggling like a child on Christmas Day. The Nopon leapt up and pressed the button, and high above them, the closed door eased itself open. "Good job, Riki," Shulk said with a smile as the Nopon raced up to meet them. Riki cheered while Reyn gave him a murderous look. They reached the door a few minutes later, and found themselves at a lift. Dunban activated it, and the machine hummed for a moment, before rising into the air. When the lift finally stopped, they were in a huge room, where metal plates stuck out here and there, which would provide cover if they needed to rest again. They got off the lift and began to walk across the huge room, towards the elevator on the other side. Shulk couldn't help but notice Fiora's face visibly paling but she still walked with the rest of them. Her legs began to wobble and she nearly collapsed, if Shulk hadn't caught her. "Are you okay?" He asked, concerned. "She looks very tired," Melia remarked. "Should she not get some rest?" Shulk moved out of the way so Sharla could get a good look at Fiora, who shook her head. "Thank you," She said weakly. "But really, I'm okay." "No," Dunban said firmly. "We'll find a safe place to rest. We've hardly stopped since we left the village." "Riki tired too," Riki agreed. "Riki tummy rumble!" "I'm with you," Reyn agreed. He was obviously trying to be kinder to the Nopon after his remark that Reyn was rude. Shulk suddenly began to feel very uneasy. Something was going to happen, right in front of them...something was going to attack them and there was going to be an explosion that would kill him if they didn't move. "Time to park our-" Reyn began, when Shulk sprinted backwards from where he had started to walk back towards the elevator. "Get down!" He ordered. No sooner then he had said it, a huge beam of crackling blue energy slammed into the place they would have been if they had continued walking. An explosion rocked the entire Mechonis, it felt like, and everyone drew their weapons. "A Mechon assault!" Dunban growled. "Can anyone see them?" "Another vision?" Reyn asked, grinning. "Nice one Shulk." "No, it wasn't," Shulk said, activating the Monado. "Shulk?" Fiora glanced over at him. A faced Mechon dropped from the sky and landed in front of them. One of the guns attached to it's shoulder was smoking, and it had a face and body made of jade. "You did well to evade me," Jade Face said, sounding impressed. "Just what you'd expect from he who wields the Monado." "That voice!" Sharla's grip on Gadolt's rifle went slack and her eyes widened in shock. "It's a Faced Mechon," Dunban growled. "Is there someone inside?" Shulk asked. "Probably," Reyn said through gritted teeth. "What do we do, Shulk?" "We fight," Shulk replied. "But don't kill him." "Thought you might say that," Reyn grumbled. Jade Face leapt back away from them, and was now halfway across the room. "Everyone, hide behind those ledges!" Dunban pointed. "We'll be safe from any attack he throws at us!" They sprinted forwards and Shulk suddenly saw Jade Face firing off an attack at Reyn. "Hide!" Shulk yelled as the vision faded. They darted behind the nearest ledge, and a few minutes later, the blonde knew that the outcome was prevented. He sprinted for Jade Face again, Reyn and Sharla close behind him. Riki, Fiora, Dunban, and Melia darted behind other ledges, and Shulk did the same when he saw another attack that was the same as before. After what seemed like ages, they reached Jade Face. Shulk leapt into the air, and came down with a hard slice to Jade Face's face. The Mechon recoiled, right onto Dunban's katana. He sliced upwards viciously and Jade Face backed away, sneering. Fiora darted up from nowhere and sprang upwards, twisting her body and with a yell, she came in with a diagonal slice across the Machine's chest. She hit the ground, and barely dodged a swipe that hit Reyn instead. The former Defense force soldier was blasted into a wall and Sharla ran to help him while Riki kept the Mechon's attention with random taunts, most of which had something to do with food. Melia took a step forwards and slammed her staff into the ground forcefully. A bright light exploded from the tip, and washed over Jade Face, forcing him down onto one knee, groaning in pain. As soon as he did so, Sharla slung her rifle over her back and sprinted towards the Faced Mechon. "Sharla!" Reyn called after her. "Gadolt!" Sharla said to the Mechon. "It's you isn't it? Please answer me! Let me see you!" The back of the Mechon opened and a man climbed out. His had a strong chin and cold green eyes. His white hair was messy and disheveled and he wore green Mechanical armour. Where his stomach was supposed to e there was a moving Mechon part, constantly shifting. When he turned his face to look at them, Shulk found himself staring at a mechanical eye, showing that he had lost his right eye when he had died. Sharla's lower lip quivered and she whole body trembled and sheburied her face in her hands. "Gadolt!" She cried. "I knew you were alive!" "Gadolt?!" Reyn repeated. "Is that…" Shulk breathed. "Sharla's boyfriend?" "The destruction of the Monado," Gadolt raised one hands and pointed it towards Shulk. "That is the will of Lord Egil." "Gadolt?!" Sharla took a step forwards, sounding distressed. "What do you mean, 'Lord?'" Shulk demanded. "What's Egil done to you?" "What's wrong, Gadolt?!" Sharla choked. "Why would you say that?" When he didn't respond, Sharla's eyes filled with tears. "Speak to me, Gadolt!" "This world is in disarray," Gadolt said at last. "I must eliminate the cause of this disorder and restore the world to it's original form. That is my duty. Nay, the will of the world! Now, the time has come. The time to restore order!" Gadolt raised his hand and Jade Face straightened up, taking aim at them with both of it's guns, strapped to his back. "Gadolt!" Sharla screamed, reluctantly taking aim with his rifle. "Stop!" Jade Face began to charge up his attack, and Gadolt threw his hand down. Reyn ran towards Sharla, shouting her name. "Sharla!" He grabbed onto her to hopefully shield her from her fiance's attack. Sharla stared dejectedly at the gun about to kill them, whispering his name. "Gadolt…" Then, Fiora took a step forwards, her eyes red. The attack exploded around them, and Shulks vision went black. * * * Egil stood in front of his Faced Mechon in the Mechonis capital, his lip curling in obvious disgust. In front of him was a screen with twin handles, and it was spewing out information about the explosion that had just rocked Mechonis field. That must have been Jade Face, but still Egil was displeased. One by one, the screens surrounding the Machina man faded out of existence, and he stared out towards the sky. "Lady Meyneth," He muttered. "It is not far off now. A world in which there is no need for fear." He closed his eyes out of satisfaction and reopened them, hoping she could hear him. "The hour draws near. Our will will soon be done." He remembered the Telethia, Zanza wielding the Monado and the anger that came with the destruction of his people. "First there is the matter of the Monado," Egil said, frowning. He raised his hands and activated the two handles. "Our victory can only be assured if we destroy the Monado before it is too late." He closed his eyes and brought his hands away from the machines in front of him and spread them instead. "I sense your existence," He called. "I know you are alive. Zanza! The hour is upon us. Your time has come!" The walls around Egil began to glow brightly, showering him in a golden light. The Mechonis' eyes began to glow brightly, before dimming. "Soon," Egil smirked. "Our will shall be done."
