Minho went through the rest of the day talking to no one. When asked what was wrong, he lied and said "I don't feel too well", and people believed him. Once school ended, he RAN to the track to meet the girls over there. He wasn't even going to run. Just to talk to them.
Once he saw the girls come around to the bleachers, he called them over to sit with him.
"Minho, what's wrong? You haven't been yourself all day," Taylor questioned.
Minho inhaled, then exhaled deeply.
"I'll get to that later. What matters now is something that I've told one person. Not one person at school, not 'I've told more than that at home', one person," Minho started. Both girls looked at him, asking him to go on with their eyes. "So, I can't tell my parents or anyone else, aside from said one person, because I'm afraid they'll hate me. But I trust you. So, I'm telling you. I'm...bisexual."
"Why would we ever hate you?" Taylor asked, with a smile on her face.
"I don't know...I didn't think anyone would accept me," Minho replied. He then reached the point in time where he had to talk about Thomas. "So...here's why I wasn't myself today. You guys know Thomas? New kid this year, really cool. He's in our gym class, Tay." Both girls nodded. "Well, I have a huge crush on him. But...this morning, I was about to confess, and saw Teresa asking him out to dinner. And...he said yes to her. Which crushed me."
Taylor stood up, grabbed Minho's hand, pulling him up, and pulled him in for a hug. She didn't release Minho for a long time. When they finally pulled away, she kissed his cheek lightly before whispering in the boy's ear.
"If you need anyone, I'm still here."
She then smiled and winked, causing Minho to smile back. For the first time since Teresa asked Thomas out, he smiled. He still was crushed, obviously, but knowing that the two still accept Minho makes this easier on him.
"Thanks, guys. Alright, I'm heading home to stay in my room all night listening to music doing boring homework," Minho joked.
"That's my Minho! He made a joke!" Taylor replied.
Rebecca chuckled at her friend. The three of them went their separate ways, heading home.
Thomas on the other hand, was racking his brain of what could POSSIBLY be bothering Minho. He could think of nothing. He tried texting Minho, only to have no response. Newt texted Thomas, telling him that he too had no response from Minho. Neither had ANY idea what could've possibly been upsetting him.
At Minho's place, he faked a smile. He tried to make his normal sarcastic comments, making his parents think he was okay. When he was in his own room, he was able to be upset without faking anything. His parents got sick of having to pound on Minho's door, just to get him to leave his room, considering how loud his music was all night long.
He wanted to talk to Thomas. Wanted to confess his feelings. But he was worried that maybe Thomas didn't have the same feelings. That he would be hated. That he would lose one of his best friends. Minho was snapped out of his thoughts by his dad yelling for him.
"Minho!! Come down here!!" his dad yelled.
Minho groaned and threw his phone and headphones on his bed, leaving his room. His parents were waiting for him in the living room, sitting on the couch looking at him with stern expressions.
"You've been acting extremely weird today. What is going on with you?" his mom asked. "Minho, we're your parents. You have to talk to us. I don't care what it is, tell us."
Minho froze, stopped breathing even. He was afraid they had somehow caught onto the fact that Minho was bi and hiding it from them. He couldn't just come out and say it, so he had to lie about it. He had no choice. But what could cause him to be blaring music and moping around? Maybe just a lot of stress from school? TECHNICALLY, it wouldn't be a lie.
"School's just really stressful. Gally's getting on my friends worse, and that's making me get anxious, thinking I'll be the next victim, and it's just all really stressful," Minho lied.
His parents surprisingly bought Minho's lie. They just told him to talk to them whenever he needed to, and to not worry about Gally that much. If only they knew the truth....
That night, Thomas went out for dinner with Teresa. They realized how similar they really were. Needless to say, they began dating that night. Thomas had an uneasy feeling in his stomach, but he figured it to just be nerves from the first date with Teresa.
Minho had talked to Taylor about her offer and what Rebecca said at lunch. He was shocked to hear that she actually did want to ask him out, but was too scared to. So, to relieve her of the fear, he asked her out. And she said yes.
When Thomas got with Teresa, he felt no reason to worry about whether Minho really did like him or not. When Minho got with Taylor, he didn't feel as crushed about what happened with Thomas.
Little did they know their happiness wouldn't last as long as they thought it would.
