I settle down on Edward's lap to listen to Carlisle's story as Esme cuddles into him on the loveseat. We all can already tell that she's much happier than she had been just half an hour ago. The atmosphere was bright, almost too bright for me to stand. I could see Jasper almost splitting his face in half with how big his smile was, standing in the corner with Alice.

"So," Carlisle started, and we all leaned in closer to listen. "Basically when that- that- that bastard tore me up, he forgot to burn me."

Emmett burst out into snickers. "That idiot!"

Confused, I couldn't help but ask, "Why?"

The vampire I was sitting on explained it to me patiently. "Oh, so basically to kill a vampire, they have to be torn apart and then burned so that the body parts cannot get back together. If all the parts are intact, they can join back together to become one piece again."

"Anyway," Carlisle continued as I processed the new information, "The reason I took so long to come back was because the werewolf spread all the various parts of me around the world with the help of his friends."

"So basically he did everything except the one thing that would kill you," Emmett summarizes, chuckling.

Once I began grasping the concept of what had happened, I also start to howl in mirth. "Ahahaha! What a fool!"

Edward pats my head gently. "Calm down, darling."

I blush, realizing that Carlisle would want to finish his story.

"I finished joining back up in Thailand, or more specifically, Bangkok (yes I know, laugh all you want at my home town's name i'm too lazy to research hot countries) and it's not the most vampire-friendly place in the world. Actually, it's all sun," Carlisle sighs, recalling memories. "So I reformed right at noon, in the sun, and of course had to scram immediately."

Esme hugs him tight, "Aw, Carlisle!"

He responds by squeezing her too. "It's fine. Not many people were around there at that time of day, probably having lunch or escaping the sun. But the thing was, there wasn't much forest cover. Well, no forest at all, if I'm totally honest. It didn't help that I needed to hunt to, so I decided to cross down to a forest first on the way home."

"What forest?" Jasper asks, curious.

"Um, it was a forest outside of Bangkok, in Petchaburi, called Khao Yai National Park," Carlisle says. "But of course, it was a national park, so I had to be extra careful. There were LOTS of tourists hiking there, and I almost lost control."

Rosalie gasps, horrified. "But you didn't'?"

Carlisle wearily shakes his head. "I didn't."

Everyone breathes out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness."

"It's sun?" I interject. "Warm and sunny?"

Carlisle nods. "Incredibly so."

"I want to go there!" I sigh wistfully.

Edward chuckles at me. "Sorry, Bella, we can't live there."

I sigh, sadness evident on my face. Carlisle glances at me, then at Jasper, and a wave of calm and happiness bursts through me.

"Anyway, I ran all the way through France, taking little breaks to hunt and swam across to England, and here we are."

The seven of us clap for him spontaneously, and he stands up to take a mock bow.
