Three Years Later
I was sitting on Edward's lap, watching a movie with my family. My incomplete family. It's been around three years since our father figure was brutally ripped from us, and everything was awful. Esme spent most of her time in her room, and our older siblings had to go out and work to keep up appearances. We could never bear moving away from London, it was where the beginning of our family's remains lay. However, we knew in our hearts that we needed to eventually move, and soon.
"Hey, Edward?" Alice whispered softly, her soft voice tinkling over the music of a particularly sad moment of the movie.
"What?" the bronze-haired boy hissed.
"I had a weird vision..." she sighed.
After a few seconds during which I presumed Edward was reading the girl's mind, he suddenly sat upright, pushed me gently off his lap and grabbed the remote, pausing the movie.
"Oi!" Rose snarled. "I was watching that!"
"Just listen to what he has to say first, darling," Emmett soothed her.
"Guys." Edward and Alice announced in sync.
"Hold on," I interrupted, sending them an apologetic glance. "Shouldn't we get Esme?"
I had stopped calling Esme my mother, since she insisted she couldn't handle it. She couldn't hear the word 'Mommy' without being reminded of Carlisle, and breaking down.
"Huh. I guess we should," Alice muttered.
"I'll go!" I volunteered, and shot out of the room as fast as I could without tripping before someone could stop me.
Unfortunately, luck just wasn't on my side today and I almost ran into the coffee table. It was in the middle of the corridor, for god's sake! I slowed down, hearing Emmett's disappointed groan. Walking up the stairs, I couldn't help but formulate a plan for revenge. What can I say? I guess he trained me well.
I knocked on Esme's door and opened it, hearing some sniffles quickly die down.
"Esme?" I asked gently.
"Yes, sweetheart?" she croaked.
"Erm, Alice and Edward were going to announce something, so they wanted you downstairs as well," I told her. "I think it's good news."
She nodded, taking a few deep breaths before sliding off the bed and walking back downstairs with me.
"Introducing Madame Esme!" I joked as I opened the door, hoping it would make her at least giggle.
It did, and she breezed in to sit on the nearest couch. "So what is it?"
Alice grinned. "I saw Carlisle!"
We all froze, except for Edward.
"Seriously?" Rosalie gasped.
"You saw him?" Jasper seemed to have difficulty speaking, in shock.
"What?!" I screeched, making everyone wince. "Sorry."
Esme just sat there, stunned. "He's b-back?"
Edward chuckled, speeding over to hold her hands comfortingly. "Yes, he's alive. Well, as alive as he can be, for a vampire."
"H-how?" she choked out.
"He's coming here tomorrow, ask him then. Even I don't know," Alice laughed.
"T-tomorrow?!" we all chorused. "We get to see Dad again!"
"Okay, I can't wait for it! I'm going to bed so that tomorrow will come faster," I got up and started walking out.
