Chapter 41

As I regained consciousness, I was aware of a killer pain in the back of my head. While I was adjusting to this pain, I had a weird slicing and wet feeling on my scalp. Then I got it. I was having surgery.

"HELP!!!" I screamed loudly.

The scalpel didn't jump, which was what I was hoping for, so the piercing pain continued. However, something large and rubbery was gently but hurriedly slammed onto my face over my nose and mouth.

I opened my eyes and peered down, which caused them to water immediately, the pain was so intense. The mask was blue, and as soon as I breathed in, my eyelids drooped and my vision went black.

The sound of beeping (again lol) woke me up and I attempted to sit up before becoming aware of a lingering aching in the back of my head.

"What the - ?" I muttered.

Then the memories came rushing back. Dalton... the pale skin, coldness, extra strongness... he was a vampire! I wanted to press the call nurse button but I was too scared, in case he would come back. I hesitated.

"Hmm, I'll do it. I can always scream," I said under my breath.

Taking a deep breath, I pressed the button, and Carlisle came in.

"Daddy!" I cried, smiling.

"Hello, Bella. How are you?" he grinned, hugging me gently.

I frowned, the unpleasant memory coming back to me. "It was Dalton."

"Don't worry, Bella," Carlisle soothed me. "I took him outside and had Emmett deal with him. He's gone."

"When are we going to London?" I asked.

"As soon as you heal."

"What?"
