When I woke up, it was all dark and no one was there. I started to shake. Dalton could hurt me now...
The door flew open. "Bella?"
It was Esme.
"Mommy!" I reached for her.
"What's the matter, sweetie?" she asked anxiously.
"I t-thought D-D-Dalton-" I struggled to say his name,"was gonna hurt me."
"Aw honey, you're never gonna even see him again," Esme reassured me.
"Really?" I wasn't sure if that was true.
"Yeah, he's in jail," Esme told me gently.
"Hmm," was all I said.
"Well, sleep again, sweetie," Esme stroked my hair.
"C-can you stay with me?" I asked her earnestly.
"Of course, darling," she replied and tucked me back into my blankets.
She sat next to me and stroked my hair until I fell asleep.

The next morning, I woke up to find Edward at my side.
"Hey, Bella," he greeted me with a crooked smile.
"Hi," I said in a small voice.
"Wanna go down to breakfast?" he offered.
"Yeah!"
After I had finished my breakfast, Emmett spoke up. "Did you have fun with Vanessa yesterday?"
"No," I told him curtly.
He looked shocked. "Why?"
Esme, Rosalie, Jasper and Alice were leaning against the countertop while I sat on Edward's lap. I shook my head, too scared to speak.
"Guys, are you ready?" Carlisle spoke from the doorway.
"Yeah," all the men spoke in unison.
I was confused. Ready for what?
"Ready for what?" I piped up.
"We... well, me and the boys have to go hunting. For... blood," Carlisle explained awkwardly.
I looked down at my wrist and saw my own blood running in my veins, so I offered that to him.
Carlisle saw what I was trying to do and pushed my hand back. "No, sweetie. Remember when I told you that we only drink animal blood? Not human?"
I blushed and looked down, embarrassed.
"We'll be gone now," Edward sighed, standing up from under me. "Bye, Bella,"
I waved back at him.
