Chapter 12

"Ms. Catherine! Ms. Catherine!" loud yelling and knocking awoke me from my sleep. I groaned and raised my head from my pillow.

"Who is it?" I shouted back and yawned.

"It is I, Romina!" Romina responded. I sat up on the bed and leant against the headboard.

"Come in," I mumbled lazily. Romina entered my room with a light brown manila folder and a cup of water. She closed the door behind her and walked towards me. Romina was your typical grandma. She had a round short body, a light blue dress that reached her knees, gray hair, and gray eyes. When my mother left, Romina became my second mother image.

"What's going on, Romina?" I yawned again and stretched my arms.

"Mr. Jackson asked me to give you this file," she said handing me the manila folder, "And to tell you to meet him in the Track and Records floor in half an hour. I brought you the water in case you were thirsty, you have been sleeping all day."

She handed me the water and I drank it all.

"I am thirsty... but for something more appealing," I winked at Romina. Romina laughed and shook her head. She mumbled under breath, "Vampires."

I opened the folder and a picture clipped to the folder caught my attention. It was of a woman being thrown into a car. I scanned through the file and frowned. Another one? Really?

"What time is it?" I asked Romina.

"6:47 in the afternoon, ma'am," she replied. Oh snap, I literally slept my Sunday away!

"Is that all Romina?" I asked her. She nodded and took a step closer to me. She cupped my cheek and bent down to kiss my forehead, "Your mom would have been very proud of you."

My mom and Romina used to be best friends. Romina stood up and walked to the door, "I'd hurry if I were you, you only have 25 minutes to get ready." And with that she walked out the door, I sighed and stood up. I grabbed some clothes and went to take a shower.

The warm water soothed my tensed muscles and allowed me to think. I really shouldn't get close to Hansel if my father will be marrying me off to someone else. Because I got married on Earth, the marriage is void on Prima Lucé. Therefore, I am available to get married off at any given time. I shut off the water and stepped out of the shower.

I dried myself with the red fluffy towel and my ring on the sink caught my attention. The shining diamonds were remarkable. I sighed and continued to get ready. I put on my undergarments, a dark blue long sleeved shirt with a black belt, and a black skirt that reached my knees in the front but almost touched the floor in the back. I grabbed my ring, and slid it on.

I towel dried my hair and slid on my knee high black boots. I looked at the clock and stood up from my siting position on the bed. I grabbed the folder, exited my room, and walked to the elevator.

I entered the elevator and the doors dinged closed. I pressed the 3rd Floor button. I waited for the elevator to stop and then the doors dinged open. I entered the 3rd Floor and walked towards the big screen. Everyone was here: Jackson, Benjamin, Hansel, and even Miranda. I almost growled when I noticed her giggle about something Hansel said.

"Late as always, Cat," Jackson teased. I punched his shoulder and handed him the files back.

"What is this?" I asked Jackson.

"Follow me," he commanded the three of us: Hansel, Benjamin, and I. From the corner of my eye I saw Miranda slide a piece if paper into Hansel's back pocket. That slut. We all walked to one of the offices here. It was a long meeting room with a long table in the middle. The window, exposing the forest, could be converted to a screen that could only be seen from inside the room.
