A small grey tabby opened her eyes, the pale blue reflecting the light of the early morning. The sun was just peeking over the horizon, and the whole clan was asleep.
The she-kit padded over to the opening of the small den, peeking her head out. "It's almost time." She whispered to herself.
She bolted back to where her mother and two brothers were sleeping. Her mother, a silver tabby, was curled around two tom kits : one black and one a light brown.
The young tabby jumped onto her brown brother, shaking him to wake him up. "Deerkit, Deerkit!"
"Go away Cinderkit, I'm trying to sleep." Deerkit muttered sleepily.
"But we become apprentices today! Aren't you excited?" Replied Cinderkit, who was nearly bouncing off the den walls. "Wake up, wake up!"
"The rest of the clan's asleep, and besides, we have a while longer until the ceremony, now leave me alone." Heaved the tom, rolling over.
Cinderkit fell off him, and decided to try her other brother instead. "Crowkit, wake up! It's ceremony day."
Her brother didn't respond, except with a loud snore. No luck there either.
Sighing, the small tabby padded over to the opening of the den once more, looking up at the early sky. "I guess it is a little early." She said to no one in particular.
She didn't remember dozing off, but next thing she remember her mother, Featherleap, was kicking her head to wake her up.
"Ew, stop." Cinderkit said, getting up and pushed Featherleap off her. "Wait, is it time?"
Featherleap nodded, and Cinderkit jumped up and down with excitement. "I'm finally going to become an apprentice!"
"Hurry up, slow-poke!" She head Deerkit yell from outside, and Cinderkit bounded out, ready to become an apprentice.
