Chapter Eight - Medicine Cat

"Let all cats gather beneath the high rock for a Clan meeting." Called Highstar, and cats started to file around the high rock.
Cinderpaw saw Sparrowpaw and Lightpaw, the older apprentices, who looked excited. They were almost ready to become warriors, and maybe that's what they thought was happening.
"One of our apprentices has made a decision." Highstar continued. "She has decided to follow the path of a medicine cat, and join Fallowstripe in her den."
A small sigh came from Lightpaw, who obviously hadn't been expecting this.
"Fallowstripe, Cinderpaw, please come here." Both she-cat did as they were told, and the leader continued.
"Fallowstripe, tomorrow you journey to the Moonpool. Then, you can fully make Cinderpaw your apprentice." The medicine cat nodded, and Cinderpaw followed her as the sat back down in the crowd.
"Also." Highstar said, looking down at Lightpaw and Sparrowpaw. "I've heard that two apprentices have passed their final exams, and are ready to become warriors. Lightpaw, Sparrowpaw, please come here."
The apprentices quickly did as they were told, and Highstar started the ceremony.
"You have reached the stage where oh will become warriors, dedicated to protecting your clan. Do you promise to uphold the warrior code, serve your clan, and protect it with your life?"
"Yes."
"I do."
"Then before StarClan, I give you your warrior names. Lightpaw," Highstar turned to the she-cat. "For your cleverness and quickness I name you Lightstream." He touched his nose to the new warriors forehead, then turned to Sparrowpaw.
"Sparrowpaw, for your bravery and strength, I name you Sparrowclaw." He touched his nose to Sparrowclaw's forehead as well, then turned to the clan. "Tonight you will stand silent vigil, to protect your clan."
"Sparrowclaw! Lightstream!" The clan chanted, celebrating the new warriors. Cinderpaw joined in, knowing she would never experience this herself.
