Cinderstorm stood frozen where she was, pain raking like tiger's claws. He couldn't be gone. He just couldn't.
The medicine cat collapsed on the ground, tears flooding from her eyes. She didn't want him to be gone.
Deerleap saw her crying, and padded up to her. "I know he was your friend." He said, leaning against her. "He was mine too. He will be remembered as a brave warrior."
Cinderstorm nodded, although he couldn't possibly feel her pain. He was so much more to me...
Every cat started arguing about something, but Cinderstorm was too caught up in grief to notice. She then blacked out, exhausted from the race to get away from the fire, and from the pain she felt.
Suddenly Cinderstorm gasped, awake in the cool night air. All the clans were gathered, the fire lessening but still there. Cats were sleeping, the clans separated onto separate sides of the island.
They had lost their home, they had lost their memories, and she had lost someone she loved very dearly.
