It had been one of those days for Isabelle, an increasingly annoying day, she woke up later than usual, there was no Milk for her cereal and every time she would try and relax it seemed someone in the building needed her to do something or assist them. She hadn't expected that her day would conclude with an Emergency Avengers meeting that Tony requested she sit in and be a part of.
Tony stood at the tables end, a screen behind him with the Avengers and Isabelle seated around the table. "I'm sure you'll recognize this face Nat, Sam... Steve -." Tony gestured with his hands, flipping the image on the screen over to a former S.H.I.E.L.D agent before the entire department was discovered to have been overthrown by Hydra. "That's not possible -- Rumlow died along with other Hydra agents in the Triskelion." Natasha's jaw clenched, reminiscing on the days they couldn't even trust what they were doing.
"That helicarrier flew right into the building, there is no way he survived that, I barely did," Sam added, his arms folded as their eyes remained on the screen in front of them. Isabelle had heard about the S.H.I.E.L.D debacle, in fact, she had heard a lot of the mishaps that went awry with the Avengers. Meaning she could also point out the possibility of the Hydra agents miraculous recovery. "Hydra's resurrected people before right? The Winter Soldier was one of them, and Nick Fury supposedly died in front of your eyes but he never was really dead. Shield and Hydra have proven themselves before that just because you're dying doesn't mean you're dead. It's not impossible that he's alive."
All of the Avengers' heads turned toward the teenage girl, surprise crossing their faces. "How do you -- you weren't even there?" Sam raised a brow at the girl, she rolled her eyes, "You'd be surprised how much shit you guys do that ends up becoming a social studies and history assignment." Tony pointed at her, a proud smile on his face, "She has a point, a very very good point. Im almost impressed - really - almost except these reported sightings aren't a hundred-percent accurate so it's not wise for us to jump in and start shooting."
"Since when were you so against 'shoot first, ask questions later'?" Natasha countered, finding it odd in Tony's new ideology, knowing how much the man was brash and arrogant in his decisions. His eyes glanced upward meeting Natasha's own, and for a split second his eyes seem to flick over to Isabelle and back. "What I'm saying is, until we're a hundred-percent sure we'll keep perimeter watches, activity logs and if anything suspicious happens then we decide how we take him down."
Steve shook his head and gestured to the screen with data and information coming and going. "C'mon Tony, the last sighting was near Wakanda -- you can't tell me he's not there to mine vibranium, something big is about to happen and if we don't stop him then -." He was cut off by the high pitched notification sound ringing from Tony's phone. "Actually his last sighting was at a bank in Nigeria, a city called Sagamu." Flicking his wrist away from his body he brought up the latest information on 'Rumlow's' whereabouts.
The team had begun to argue, with the exception of Vision, Wanda and Isabelle as they hadn't even been a part of the time during the Triskellion incident and project insight. Sam, Natasha, and Steve knew what they were up against, Rumlow had been ruthless in his attempts to thwart Captain America and his accomplices, and that included associating with Steve's very own childhood best friend; Bucky Barnes.
So, naturally, this discovery made things personal for Steve considering he spent quite some time trying to track down Bucky with no luck.
"All right - if we can't find a compromise then fine -- let the kid decide." Tony gestured to Isabelle at the other end of the table. "She isn't even a part of the team." Sam countered, Isabelle was wide eyed and alert, not particularly appreciative of Tony throwing her under the bus like he just did. "No but she's training up to be on the team, and being a part of this time is making decisions. So - Issie, what are your thoughts? Questions? Queries? Complaints?"
