(holy fuckn moly 4500 words wtf lmaoooo THIS IS A BIG ONE GUYS BUT LOVE IT)
Isabelle lays sprawled across the couch, flicking aimlessly through Netflix shows to watch. Her hair thrown up into a messy bun and a gray onesie adorns her small figure. She appears tired and worn from the week she has had back at school, thankful that it's Friday but also sad that she had agreed to go to a party Friday night.
"Don't you have a party to go to?" Tony questions as he pours himself a drink, eying the teenage girl from the counter top. "Yep." She replies, setting down the remote, giving up on Netflix as a reliable source to kill her boredom. "And you're not ready... why?" The ice cubes in his glass made a faint clinking nose, one of the only noises filling up the spacious living area. Isabelle sits up, turning to face the man in the catching giving her a pointed look, "because it's-" she glances at the clock ticking away, "-five thirty."
Tony sets his drink down and clicks his tongue, "all the more time to get yourself dolled up, take it from me." She groans loudly, practically throwing herself off the couch and up on her feet, "you're really enjoying this, aren't you? Watching me suffer from all this 'glamorous' stuff." The man sighed and walked over to her, a prominent smile on his face, "you betcha. Seriously though, I've been in the spotlight my whole life, since I was a kid. The tabloids, the reporters, the media are far more unforgiving in this century than the last and I know for sure if you look remotely 'normal' then they won't hesitate to tear you to shreds. I get it, Issie, I really do - having people constantly at you at all hours of the day but as long as you remain true to yourself and your morals they can't get to you."
He paused momentarily before continuing, "that's why it's so important for you to look nice - because everyone wants to believe that being Tony Starks daughter, living god knows where, knowing the Avengers is a perfect life. It is far from perfect. You and I know that pretty damn well and once they figure that out then they'll use information against you. God knows what they'd do if they found out you don't have a family - even worse if they found out how they died. I know you've never told anyone - but they will find out. People will start pointing fingers - it'll be a shit storm, and I'm talking a giant shit storm." Isabelle inhaled a sharp breath, she had never thought about the media, press, all of it like that before. "Okay." Her voice was but a squeak.
Tony put a hand on her shoulder and squeezed it reassuringly, "I just don't want them to tear you down like they've done to so many people before, to me. You're a strong girl, stronger than most your age but there comes a time where the pressure of those nagging asshole hits a breaking point and I don't want you to think of yourself anything but the kind hearted nerd you are on the inside." She listened, really listened to Tony's worries, having never heard him sound so concerned before. A smile tugged at her lips when he called her a nerd, "you're a nerd too, y'know." She punched his arm lightly making him chuckled and nod, "but I'm a good looking nerd."
"Are my ears deceiving me or did Tony just give little Iz some actual helpful advice?" Natasha's voice cuts in between Isabelle's and Tony's. She stood at the end of the hallway with her arms folded over her chest, standing next to Sam who both seemed to have witnessed Tony's talk to Isabelle. "Definitely hearing things -- might wanna go get that checked out," Tony replied, stepping away from Isabelle and walking back over to the counter to retrieve his previously abandoned drink.
Natasha and Sam exchanged a look, she hummed in reply with a smirk, satisfied that she had witnessed Tony acting soft, a side they rarely saw of the billionaire, "is that right? Whatever you say... C'mon Iz, let's get you all cleaned up. We have a helper today, Sam's secret talent is doing hair - can you believe that?" The four shared a chuckle, mainly at her comment toward Sam who was a bald man and how ironic his talent appeared.
