Muttering in annoyance, Isabelle adjusts her bra for the fifth time, finding it hard to place it in a comfortable position due to the power core sticking out. She wasn't sure she would ever be used to it. Deciding she would figure out the predicament later she discarded the bra and shrugged on a shirt. "Better." She murmured to herself and walked over to her bed where she had noticed it vibrating violently with Peter's face and I.D flashing on the screen.
Diving to her bed, she answered it as if her life depended on it. "Pete, hey..." Isabelle breathed out, pressing it close to her ear as she started to pick at the fabric of her blankets. "Issie... It's so good to hear your voice - I mean I-I just missed it.. that's a-all..." Peter stammered, to say he felt lonely the last three days was an understatement, sure he had Ned and May but it wasn't that type of lonely.
Before he would leave the apartment his gaze would linger on the door across the hall - Isabelle's apartment - and he would be greeted with a pang of sadness and guilt. "It's been three days you dork, I'm sure you were glad to have gotten rid of me..." she joked, despite the humour she too missed Peter. Call it obsessive but she had definitely felt a hole in her life that Peter had made, even if she was unconscious for the most part of three days.
Peter chuckled dryly, "I thought I lost you... w-with Mr Stark taking you and I heard nothing for days I was.. so sure... you just walked into my life, I'm not ready to let you go yet." His words were sweet, masking the pain he felt Friday and the pain he felt for Ben. The words warmed Isabelle's heart, bringing a smile on her lips which she couldn't contain even as she bit her lip.
"Tony told me what you did... well - it was more like 'some annoying kid wouldn't let me take you' but I know he means well, and I know he was talking about you." She spoke softly, her fingers still picking at the fabric. Peter laughed slightly at himself, how reluctant he was to let her go for anyone - including Tony Stark -. "Is he always... that... well?"
"That rude? Stubborn? Yeah, it grows on you though... he means well, people don't give him enough credit." She stood up from the bed and started to pace as she remained on the phone with Peter. He hadn't let Fridays events tarnish his view on Tony Stark, in fact, he grew slightly fonder of the man for saving Isabelle and that he had taken care of her considering she was an orphan. "U-uh... Issie... on Friday, I heard... something..." he drew out a shaky breath, he knew better than to ask her something like this right after he found out she was okay.
But Peter was a curious boy, naturally, but he also figured that if she was able to confide her secrets and problems in him he could also do the same to her. Isabelle seemed to pale slightly, what had he heard? Surely it was nothing too serious, she hoped it wasn't anything too serious. "What was it?" She gulped and waited in anticipation for an answer, Peter paused for a moment and tugged his lower lip with his teeth as he contemplated whether or not to continue. "S-sorry... I shouldn't have even brought it up, that was really... really shitty for me to do-"
"It's fine, Pete, you can tell me... you already started..." she pointed out, her heart hammered in her chest hearing Peter sigh. "U-um... well, Mr Stark said something to the medics... t-that he - I mean you were under his uh... custody and care..." She sucked in a breath, the cat was out of the bag now, not just for Peter but for everyone else who had heard. Isabelle had every right to be scared, given that upon that announcement news spread of 'Tony Stark's revealed adopted daughter' which wasn't at all true.
Isabelle wasn't his adoptive daughter nor had she even considered a reality where that was likely, but everyone seemed so sure they figured her out. "I think it's better if I tell you in person... besides I have to thank you properly for looking out for me... I'll get a cab over to your apartment... is that -- that all right?"
