The room was full of arguing, clap backs, bouncing back and forth between a seemingly definitive rift of two sides of the whole situation. The accords, presented to the team not even ten minutes prior had already begun to tear them apart with strong opinions and measly facts. Isabelle had been briefed by Tony not too long before the arguing started, the accords; what they mean, what they stand for, how it'll help the Avengers make the world a better place.
She remained silent and unmoving, wallowing in some form of self-pity that came after being scolded by Tony. Steve flicked through the wad of papers, barely reading through what was to be addressed at the United Nations meeting in Vienna, he had already made his decision and that was clear. Tony had already made his decision, that too, was clear. It was a matter of where everyone else stood.
Naturally, Rhodey would adhere to whatever Tony sided with, and like Rhodey, Sam would stick by Steve no matter what. It was now a matter of the decisions every other team member would make in order to find peace, with the exception of Natasha and Isabelle. Natasha tended not to have an opinion on things and Isabelle was a fresh face to all of this, her opinion on the matter was harder to read than the red-haired assassin.
"Secretary Ross has a congressional medal of honour...which is one more than you have." Rhodey retorted in response to Sam's argument, the two had been at each other for what seemed like hours but only, it had been minutes. "So let's say we agree to this thing. How long is it going to be before they LoJack us like a bunch of common criminals?" Tony pressed his fingers to his temples to relieve the pain of a headache caused by the relentless arguing, the backchat from Isabelle and the entire situation.
"A-hundred-and-seventeen countries want to sign this. A-hundred-and-seventeen, Sam, and you're just like, 'No, that's cool, we got it.'" Everyone sat around, just listening and thinking about what choice is best, best for the team and best for the world. "How long are you going to play both sides?" Just like everyone else in the room, Vision got fed up with the bickering and nitpicking between the two, "I have an equation."
Sam scoffed and rolled his eyes, "oh, this will clear it up." Both men turn their attention to Vision who was seated on the couch beside Wanda, just like everyone else in the room, "In the eight years since Mr. Stark announced himself as Iron Man... The number of known enhanced persons has grown exponentially. And, during the same period... the number of potentially world-ending events has risen at a commensurate rate."
"Are you saying it's our fault?" Steve looked up from the accords and at Vision who daren't miss a beat, "I'm saying there may be a causality... Our very strength invites challenge. Challenge incites Conflict. Conflict breeds catastrophe. Oversight... Oversight is not an idea that can be dismissed out of hand." Rhodey looks over to Sam with a proud smile, "boom."
Natasha looks between everyone in the room before her eyes settled on Tony, his fingers still pressed against his temples. "Tony... you're being uncharacteristically non-hyperverbal." She points out, the team looks to the man before Steve adds, "It's because he's already made up his mind." Removing his hand from his temples Tony glanced at Steve, "boy, you know me so well." He rises from his slouched position on the chair and clutches the back of his head, "Actually, I'm nursing an electro-magnetic headache. That's whats going on, Cap. It's just pain. It's discomfort."
He crosses over to the Kitchenette, not particularly sparing anyone a glance as he retrieves a coffee mug. "Who's putting coffee grounds in the disposal? Am I running a bed and breakfast for a biker gang?" He questioned rhetorically, all eyes were on him and not a word uttered from anyone's mouth as he placed his holopad on the countertop, propping it up against the fruit bowl and tapped on it.
