I rubbed my eyes as Daniels and I entered the common room at 10:00 pm after our first detention with Snape. Unfortunately, the prank I pulled to hint he should stop making me mop his office backfired since he made us clean up all the bubbles.. and they went everywhere. Bit of an idiot move on my part, but the image of the bubbles in Snape's black, greasy, hair was worth it.

Daniels and I said our goodbyes and he went straight up to his room while I made my way over to the corner where the rest of the gang was. Before I could take my seat between Airam and Blaise, Draco stood up hurriedly and planted his anxious-looking self in front of me. "Hey, love," he said, looking around nervously.

I furrowed my brow. "Hey, Draco..." I said slowly. Blaise was smirking up at us, Crabbe and Goyle were darting their beady eyes between the both of us, and the other three were too busy having a heated debate to notice anything was happening. "What did you do?" I demanded suspiciously, crossing my arms at the blond-haired boy in front of me.

"Let's talk over here," he suggested, trying to pull me into a corner.  I dug my feet into the floor to no avail, and huffed before allowing him to guide me into a corner that was still close enough to our group for Blaise to crane his neck all the way around and continue to smirk knowingly at me. I glared at him before my attention averted to Draco.

"Now don't get too mad, love," he said, holding his hands out in front of him, "but you know just as much as I do that that oaf— Hagrid's—beast is dangerous--"

"Draco, please don't tell me you're talking about Buckbeak," I said, narrowing my eyes . "You know just as much as I do that he's  not dangerous—"

"Yes he is!" Draco insisted desperately, wiggling his arm in my face. "He nearly clawed off my arm!"

"If only you would've listened—"

"Love, there isn't anything you can do to change what's already been done," he concluded with confidence, but when he saw the look on my face, his demeanor quickly shifted and his eyes averted to the ground.

I gripped the side of my robes with my shaking hands. "What do you mean by that, then?"

Draco suddenly grabbed my upper arms and pinned them to my sides, his grey eyes swimming with worry and his face paling considerably.

"He's going to be executed," he rushed out, wincing.

I froze and I could feel my eyes widen. I blinked my eyes rapidly, trying to make sense of what Draco had just told me... I wished I had heard him wrong or something, but I knew I hadn't; Buckbeak was going to be—executed. Executed. Innocent, sweet, Buckbeak was going to be—

"EXECUTED?" I shouted shrilly. The skin underneath my necklace burned as I struggled to get Draco to release my arms. His attempt to keep my arms down turned up a notch, and he clamped his hands down on me harder, his wide eyes glassy with fear. The entire room's chatter had gone down considerably, to where the only sound to be heard was Draco and I's scuffling.

"EXECUTED?" I repeated. "For what, Draco? For defending himself because you insulted him when Hagrid told you you shouldn't? How could you do this? Buckbeak is an innocent animal and you know it! Now you've gotten him to be executed—"

"No, no," Draco insisted, shaking me lightly once. "Father—"

"YOU PROBABLY TOLD HIM TOO!"

My chest was burning and my eyes were tingling, but the burning was what was bothering me the most; not nearly as much as the thought of Buckbeak being killed, but still. I could've swore the necklace had already burned a hold straight through my skin, just like the stares of everyone around us, including our friends, were burning straight into me.
