I finally shoved through the door of my room, my butt aching and already half of my hair down. I rubbed my eyes but then yelped when I realized I still had the eye makeup on.
"Great look," Jalen commented as I slunk onto my bed, letting out a sigh.
"Thanks," I mumbled. She was still in her dress too, but she had taken off her heels and was massaging her feet.
"I didn't even see you in the dance and you came back later than me. Malfoy was livid." She snickered. "Where did you go?"
"Draco was mad?" I scoffed. "Well it was all his fault I left anyways. He just had to start something with me." I sighed. "I shouldn't have left just over that but...Harry and I weren't dancing anyways. And I went out and ended up finding Hermione and we were talking... We just lost track of time."
Jalen looked over at the clock. "Well Airam and Pansy aren't here yet either and it's about to be midnight. I think I heard Pansy say she was going to stay in Millicent and Tracey's room again, though."
"Merlin, don't they get tired of her?" I asked. Then I laughed softly. "But they can keep her for the rest of our time at Hogwarts if they want."
"Exactly," Jalen said, smirking.
The door opened again and a bright-faced Airam entered. She kicked off her shoes before looking at us, beaming. Then it slightly went down into a sheepish smile, her cheeks going pink. "Sorry I didn't tell you--"
"Who cares about that?" Jalen erupted, laughing. "Tell us everything!"
Both her and Airam pounced over to my bed and I nodded eagerly, urging her to do as Jalen had said, an excited grin on my face.
"You and Theodore, huh?" I teased. "When's the wedding?"
Jalen laughed while Airam blushed.
"No, no," Airam said. "I don't think there'll be any wedding. We're just friends, after all. Okay, so what happened was I was just sitting on my bed while you two and Pansy were attending all of your classes, and then Theodore barged in. He scared the heck out of me but I didn't fall off the bed this time." She waited, smiling like a loon, while Jalen and I laughed, then continued, "Then he said he heard that I was being 'a crybaby' and demanded that I go to the dance with him. Of course I said no at first and tried to get him to leave, but he threatened that he would come in here the night of the dance and bother me the entire time if I didn't go with him. So I ended up saying yes. But I wanted it to be a surprise!" she added hurriedly when Jalen opened her mouth to yell at her for not telling us. "That's why neither of us told anyone. It was supposed to be a surprise..." she said quietly. Then her eyes brightened. "But Merlin, I'm so glad I went! It was the best night ever...and I think this is my favorite dress ever. I'm only ever going to wear this one..."
"Well...you look amazing," I said. Her grin widened.
"You really do. I mean, Pansy didn't even insult you. And she was insulting everybody. Even me and Sierra, and we looked hot," Jalen said, winking at me. I laughed.
"She didn't insult Draco," Airam said pointedly, wiggling her eyebrows. Then she looked at me, her smile fading. "But Blaise told me everything that happened with you two... I didn't see you the rest of the night. Are you okay?"
It felt good to have the sweet, caring Airam back instead of the one who never got out of her bed, so even though she brought up something that caused my eyes to turn and remain red, I still had a faint smile on my face. I explained to her everything I had told Jalen.
