After my History of Magic exam, I made my way back to the common room. I was far too tired to go to the Great Hall for dinner. I would just have to explain to Draco later where I had went.

When I entered the common room, it was mostly empty, which I wasn't surprised about. I plopped myself down onto an armchair and closed my eyes. Right as I felt myself drifting off to sleep, I heard the common room door open. I paid no mind to it, and continued to sit there with my eyes closed.

Mwah!

My bright brown eyes popped open in alarm and my face became centimeters away from none of than Zabini's. "Did you just kiss my cheek?!" I screamed at him, standing up. I felt my cheek burning where he had placed his lips a second ago. He was smirking cockily, fueling my rage.

"Sorry to wake you, Riddle. You just looked so cute-"

I was pointing my wand in his face before he could even finish his sentence. "Stupefy!" His body went sailing across the room and he crashed into the wall, falling to the ground in a heap, stunned. I huffed angrily and shoved my wand back into my robes. I was glad my father had taught me that spell, since first years aren't taught it and it came in handy to teach Zabini a lesson.

"How did you do that?" I jumped and spun around at the sound of another voice behind me. Pansy was standing there, having just came out from the girls dorms. I pursed my lips.

"Do what?" I gritted out, annoyed. It was supposed to be empty in here. Her nosy self always had to ruin-

"That!" she shrieked, pointing at Zabini's body. "How did you stun him? How did you even know that spell?!"

"I read it in a book," I responded, rolling my eyes.

"No you didn't!" she shrieked loudly, making my ears ring. She was about to set me off...

She suddenly took out her wand and I whipped mine out faster, making her flinch. "Do you really want to do this?" I challenged. "You know I'll beat you."

"I'm not so sure!" she growled. I could see a flash of fear in her eyes, but I was slightly impressed with how she stood her ground. "Expelliarmus!"

In less than a second, my wand acted on its own accord and shot out a spell that blocked the one she had fired at me. Pansy looked shocked and so did I. I stared down at my wand, perplexed. And then-

Crucio...use crucio

I knew that was an unforgivable curse. I couldn't do that. Before he could make my wand do anything else, I pointed it at her myself. "Petrificus Totalus!" Her arms snapped to her sides and her legs collided together before she feel to the ground in a full body binding curse. I scoffed and turned on my heel, exiting the common room. I needed to go let off steam before I went back in there and cursed her petrified body.

I walked up and out of the dungeons, going in the opposite direction of the chatter from the Great Hall and up the stairs. I had been wandering around in the corridors before I decided to just go up to the towers. I really didn't have a clue where I was, but I continued to walk. When I turned one corner, I spotted a Gryffindor girl walking up to a portrait of a fat lady. I stopped and backtracked, hiding myself behind the corner. "Pigs snout," the girl told the portrait. Suddenly it moved and the fat lady spoke.

"Welcome," she said before her portrait swung forward, revealing a hole in the wall. The girl walked in and the portrait closed after her. It was the entrance to the Gryffindor common room, and I just heard the password! My body flooded with excitement as I stepped out from behind the corner and walked up to the portrait. I was dying to see what it looked like and to explore the inside. Hopefully the girl who had just walked in was the only one, better yet, I prayed she had gone to her room and it was empty.
